“Gathering in Tet holiday” program 2017 held

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) organized the “Tet sum vay” (Gathering in Tet holiday) program 2017 at Ben Cat town-based My Phuoc theater on the evening of January 19.

Attending the event were Bui Van Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Chairman of the VGCL; Tran Van Nam, member of the PCC, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Delegation; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Thanh Liem, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Public Relations, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.

In 2017, the “Gathering in Tet holiday” program will be organized in 63 provinces and cities nationwide. So far, there have been 55 provinces, cities and 3 sectorial Trade Unions holding the program with more than 200,000 workers visited and given gifts worth more than VND55billion. Among them, more than 30,000 were offered bus tickets to return home for Tet. The program also donated 38 houses of compassion to needy workers and organized more than 26,000 bus trips for workers to return home for Tet.

Especially, the program in Binh Duong mobilized VND4.3billion from the local authorities at all levels. The local Trade Unions at all levels also mobilized enterprises, donors to present more than 400,000 gifts worth more than VND170,000billion, 3,000 bus tickets and organize trips taking workers to come home for Tet.

Speaking at the event, Mr.Hung said that Binh Duong last year reaped a lot of achievements in socio-economic fields. These achievements also came from great contributions by workers from all parts of the country. Over the past time, Binh Duong created favorable conditions for immigrant workers to keep their mind on work and select it as their second homeland. On this occasion, he also called for the local authorities at all levels, sectors, agencies, units and enterprises to further support and create the best conditions for workers to enjoy a significant and warm Tet, especially pay more attention to those living away from home with difficult circumstances or hit by labor accidents…

In the framework of the program, provincial Labor Union also gave 50 gifts and 50 bus tickets for needy workers to return home for Tet.
