70-year imprint

Update: 13-05-2021 | 18:05:54

Over 70 years of construction and growth, the industry and trade sector has made steady progress and got achievements in the new period, greatly contributing to the overall development of the country as well as enhancing the position of Vietnam in the international arena.

In the resistance war against foreign invaders, the industry and trade sector has successfully completed two main tasks, including building material foundations for socialism in the North and serving the battlefield in the South.

After national unification and more than 35 years since the implementation of the Party's renewal policy and guideline, together with the whole country, the industry and trade sector has achieved many important achievements with large-scale and modern works built and put into operation, basically meeting the needs of national socio-economic development in the renewal period. Especially, the sector has actively participated in multilateral and regional economic institutions, marking comprehensive integration into the global economy. Currently, with 17 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) being implemented and negotiated, Vietnam has become the center of global trade flows. This has helped expanding export markets for Vietnamese commodities while being an opportunity to connect and more deeply participate in the global value chain and production network.

Sharing that pride, Binh Duong's industry and trade sector has greatly contributed to the picture of the national economy. All staff of the sector over periods have made great efforts in bringing the sector to constant development in both quantity and quality, contributing to promoting the shift of the economic structure from an agricultural locality to a locality of industrial development, becoming one of the country’s leading localities on the way of national industrialization and modernization. In the 2015-2020 period, the province’s index of industrial production increased by 9.64%/year. Total retail sales revenue of goods and services surged 17.95%/year. Export turnover saw an increase of 9.31%/year. International trade activities have continued to be disrupted amid the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic. But, the province’s export turnover in the first 4 months was more than US$ 11 billion. The province’s trade surplus reached nearly US$ 3 billion, up 46.8% over the same period last year.

Those few numbers are also enough to show the ceaseless efforts of the local industry-trade sector’s staff over the past time. Along with this, noble titles awarded by the Party and State to the local industry-trade sector have made us being more proud of today's generation that has followed the footsteps of the elders with efforts, contributing to the glorious tradition of the industry and trade sector which is "70 years old".
