A shining example among us

Update: 09-12-2019 | 18:41:25

In the former Phuoc Thanh land, Phu Giao Party Committee, authorities and people have put together their efforts to overcome all difficulties and build up the developing Phu Giao. That countryside had a 4/4 wounded soldier with a long record of achievements from wartime to peacetime, which was commended by the Party, State and people. It was Nguyễn Hữu Vận in Hamlet 1A, Phuoc Hoa Commune.

Mr. Vận presents gifts and scholarships to poor studious students.

Welcoming us with a warm smile, healthy skin, war invalid Nguyễn Hữu Vận said that when he was 17, he joined the revolutionary war.“I fought in the fierce fire and battle field at Regional Logistics Department and the War Zone D. When I returned from the army to my hometown, I had to suffer a 21% disability and became a 4/4 wounded, but my heart is always burned with the will and determination of a Uncle Ho's soldier, not succumbing to poverty, overcoming difficulties, rising up by myself, enriching my family and homeland", said Mr. Vận.

Indeed, through many hardships and fierce battlefields, war invalid Nguyễn Hữu Vận has kept thinking that he was still luckier than many other comrades when he returned to his family.“As a wounded soldier, I always tell myself how to rise up in life, develop my family economy, set an example for children and grandchildren to reduce poverty and contribute to building the homeland."Sometimes I craned at difficulties but then due to the encouragement from family members, I tried to overcome", he said.

By his own will and energy, over the past 30 years, Mr. Vận has overcome difficulties and enriched his family. He is a good example of good labor, good production, a typical sponsor of his locality, has shared and supported with the less fortunate in society. He donated more than VND 6 billion to help people suffering from floods and storms; giving gifts; building 7 houses of gratitude and compassionate; more than 30,000kg of rice was donated to poor people ... Especially, Mr. Vận also supports 16 poor families with serious diseases in his locality every month (currently there are 11 households), including veterans; and contributing to war veterans' fund in his commune to help other members develop family economy.

His house's walls are full of labor medals, certificates of merit from all levels and branches from the central to local levels, we understand that these are the result of an tireless and effortless process of war invalid Nguyen Huu Van. He has followed the teaching of Uncle Ho to become a good example among us.

With his own contributions, Mr. Vận deserves the second- and third-class Labor Medal by the President; First-class Resistance War Medal; Victory Medal of second, third-class; Honorable third-class soldier medal; Liberation Medal of second, third-class; many certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, certificates of merit from ministries, branches and provincial People's Committee Chairman.
