Accommodations for workers stabilized

As of July 19, many businesses in the province had completed the "3 on-site" or "1 road, 2 locations" plans, ensuring places to eat and rest for nearly 100,000 workers during the social distancing period of the whole province. In addition, some companies failing to implement the above two plans have decided to give employees 2 weeks off work and pay basic salary for them.

Urgent implementation

Previously, on July 16, after provincial People's Committee announced on the implementation of enterprises ‘production plans during the local social distancing period, aiming to well control Covid-19 pandemic. Hundreds of enterprises in the province have entered a race ensuring accommodations for workers. Kumaaresan Varutharaju, Director of Dunlopillo Vietnam Co., Ltd  in the VSIP in Thuan An city said: “After receiving the province’s decision on the implementation of the "3 on-site " rule, I have directed the company's Trade Union officials to coordinate with office staff to prepare a plan to take good care of workers who register to stay at the factory for working.

Yazaki Eds Co., Ltd. in Di An city has finished preparation on places to eat and rest for employees staying at the factory to work

Dunlopillo Vietnam Co., Ltd now has more than 200 employees. Among them, there are 50 staying at the factory for working while the remainders are allowed for temporary leave and get basic salary. Pham Hong Luc, Chairman of the company’s trade union local said: “When receiving the decision, the company immediately contacted the local health officers to take samples from workers staying for Covid-19 testing, ensuring the health sector's pandemic prevention and control requirements. Regarding taking care of workers during their stay at the company, we have coordinated with a unit supplying necessities while giving additional support for these workers…"

The company has taken advantage of all offices with sufficient conveniences to serve as accommodations for workers who staying for working. Each of them  will also receive an allowance of 100,000 VND/day and a gift worth VND 350,000. In general, employees of the company feel secure to stay and work because they are given good care from the company’s directorate. Meanwhile, Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, Chairwoman of Yazaki Eds Co., Ltd.’s trade union local in Di An city said that the company has many orders, so it must maintain production during the social distancing period for Covid-19 prevention and control. In the past few days, the company urgently prepared accommodations for workers. Currently, there are 400 workers staying at the factory for working.

Efforts to overcome difficulties

As noted by the reporter, many factories in Thuan An, Thu Dau Mot, Di An cities and Ben Cat town have began implementing the "3 on-site" or “1 route, 2 locations” plans, urgently preparing mosquito nets, blankets and other  necessary items for workers to stay at factories for working. For companies with 1,000 workers or more like Uchiyama Vietnam Co., Ltd in the Dai Dang Industrial Park in Thu Dau Mot city, they have to put all their efforts into preparing places to eat and rest for workers.

After one day of implementation, about 970 workers have registered to stay at the company for working. Hence, the company has urgently prepared places for workers to eat and rest when staying here to work. “Our company has 4 factories in Binh Duong. As of July 19, we have finished all preparations at the factories. We determined that no matter how difficult it is, we still have to complete the task to maintain production,” shared Nguyen Viet Xiem, factory manager of Uchiyama Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Dang Thi Kim Chi, Chairwoman of the VSIP’s Youth Union said that enterprises in the VSIPs are urgently implementing the "3 on-site" rule in recent days. The VSIP now has more than 150 enterprises with employees registering to stay at factories for working. These enterprises have completed their production plans under the “3 on-site” rule. Currently, workers here have also entered factories to stay and work”.

“Last week, trade union officials at enterprises in the province have actively implemented the "3 on-site" rule. All enterprises are trying to overcome this difficult period…", said Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Labor Union.
