Agricultural economic structure on strong shift

Despite the impacts from Covid-19 pandemic, the province’s agriculture and rural development sector still gained positive results in the first half of 2020.

Well preventing diseases

Over the past six months, the province’s agriculture and rural development sector continued implementing its agricultural development program towards  accelerating the shift of agricultural economic structure; realized management on food safety in agricultural production areas; guided farmers, cooperatives and businesses to apply VietGAP and hi-tech processes into production; boosted prevention of diseases in crop plants and animals, especially H5N1, African hog cholera…

Regarding cultivation, most main products of the province were generated and consumed domestically. For farms and businesses with products exported into China, their production-business activities remained normal. U&I Agricultural Joint Stock Company in February, 2020 exported 40 tons of banana into China.

Whilst, the province basically curbed African hog cholera, bird flu, step by step repopulating their animal husbandry towards sustainable development. Tran Phu Cuong, Head of provincial Veterinary and Animal Health Sub-Department said that the sector well realized hi-tech based animal husbandry models; ensured the supply of products, the quarantine and slaughtering of animals, well meeting the demand for consumption in and out of the province…

Restructuring accelerated

To achieve a target of increasing by 4% in agro-forestry and fishery production value compared to 2019, Pham Van Bong, Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the sector will further boost restructuring, improving the quality and productivity of agricultural products and effectiveness in production-business. Accordingly, the sector will continue making the shift of crop plants, products in line with the local advantages, market’s demand and climate change…

The province has also innovated production-business forms in agriculture with focus on developing cooperatives, cooperative groups, linkage in consumption while effectively realizing a project on developing 15,000 agricultural cooperatives to 2020, the emulation movement of “Improving agricultural cooperatives under the Cooperative Law, thereby contributing to carrying out restructure of agriculture and building new-style rural areas.

From now till year-end, the province’s agricultural sector will further strengthen its restructuring; well realize prevention of diseases in crop plants and animals, environmental protection; effectively implement the national target program on new-style rural construction; submit documents recognizing Bau Bang, North Tan Uyen and Phu Giao as new-style rural localities into the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for approval…
