Ben Cat bound for modern, civilized, environmentally friendly city

In the 2016-2020 period, Ben Cat town fulfilled criteria of a third-class city, ensuring its urban development under provincial urban development program. The town will strive to complete criteria of a second-class city, building up a modern, civilized, environmentally friendly city, improving the quality of people’s life.

Reaching criteria of a third-class city

In 2018, Ben Cat town was recognized as a third-class city under the management of the province. Nguyen Trong An, Chairman of the town’s People’s Committee said that over the past five years, the town’s urban development was implemented synchronously in accordance with the urban development programs of the locality and the province. There were 148 items receiving priority for investment in the 2016-2020 period, contributing to perfecting the local urban infrastructure system, fulfilling criteria of a third-class city.

Ben Cat town’s urban area gets more and more modern, civilized

Particularly, the town completed 57 out of 93 traffic works, or 61.3% of the set target; 18 out of 23 works on State administration, national defence-security or 78.3% of the set target; 7 out of 8 works in culture, health and education or nearly 100% of the set target; 13 out of 14 works on urban rejuvenation or 93% of the set target…

Along with developing technical infrastructure facilities, the town attached special importance to urban rejuvenation. The town’s Party Committee promulgated a project on improving the quality of urban rejuvenation for the 2016-2020 period; amendments and supplements for the 2016-2020 period and the next years. Accordingly, the town upgraded 306 streets with a total length of around 251.02 km and total investment capital of around VND341.481billion, 1.6 times higher than that of the 2010-2015 period; installed lighting systems on 499 streets with total expense of around VND100.65billion, 3.5 times higher than that of the 2010-2015 period. The town also built 5 green parks from the public land fund of wards of Tan Dinh, My Phuoc, Thoi Hoa and communes of An Dien and Phu An.

Over the past time, the town was fully covered by the network of passenger transportation with a total of 274 vehicles, meeting the local people’s demand for travelling. Since 2016, town-based transportation units have transported 356,544 tons of goods and more than 4.2 million passengers with total revenue of around VND8.8billion. The town’s People’s Committee has just opened the Ben Cat-TDM bus route, promoting the public traffic system of the province in general and of the town in particular.

Also during the 2016-2020 period, the town approved the detailed planning at 1:500 scale for 33 residential-housing areas with a total area of around 1,770 hectares. There were 54 residential-housing areas approved with a total area of around 2,917 hectares. The total floor area of the town’s inner area was more than 6.49million square meters…

Towards second-class city

To mark the shift of the local economic structure towards industry-services and agriculture in association with urbanization while fulfilling the contents of the Resolution of the 12th local Party congress for the 2020-2025 tenure and further realizing urban development targets, Ben Cat town has set up several orientations on the plan of urban development for 2021-2025 period, vision to 2030. In the 2021-2025 period, the town will strive to develop under criteria of a second-class city; give priority to upgrading 2 communes of An Tay and An Dien into wards. In the 2026-2030 period, the town will strive to reach criteria of a second-class city with the quality of people’s life improved.

Based on the local urban development program for 2016-2020 period approved by provincial People’s Committee, the town now has 3 urban development areas under the socialization form, namely Ho Cay Chay ecotourism site, An Tay, An Dien service-urban, industrial park, eco-urban and ornamental service park. In the coming time, the town will further call on investment for the above-mentioned 3 areas as stipulated.
