Binh Duong helps reduce pollution in Dong Nai river basin

Binh Duong has implemented many measures, boosted propaganda to contribute to reducing environmental pollution in Dong Nai river basin.

Effective implementation of key projects

Binh Duong is one of the 11 provinces and cities located in Dong Nai river basin. In the process of socio-economic development, environmental issues have arisen. To solve this problem, Binh Duong province issued documents, plans, and projects to deploy environmental protection activities. Mai Hung Dung, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said that with the environmental prevention and control from the selection of investment projects, Binh Duong also step up the installation of self-monitoring waste water system, cameras and automatic samplers for waste water sources with a wastewater flow of 50m3 / day or more... This has contributed to reducing environmental pollution, especially waste water discharged into Dong Nai river.

 

The introduction of Ba Bo canal pollution improvement project has contributed to solving pollution problem here and reducing the environmental pollution in the area.

During the environmental protection plan for 2016-2020, the province will focus on 13 priority investment projects and 23 key tasks. According to Department of Natural Resources and Environment, 13 priority investment projects have approval decision or investment policy, in each project many items have been completed or are under construction; Total disbursed investment capital for these projects was over VND2,300 billion. For 23 missions, up to now, 19 missions have been deployed, of which 10 have been completed; total disbursement for the tasks was over VND26 billion.

In addition, the statistical work, database construction of wastewater sources are also focused. Nguyen Hong Nguyen, Deputy Director of Department of Natural Resources and Environment said, the province has built wastewater treatment system for 5,530 enterprises; listed 53 wastewater sources with discharge of 50m3 or more. The provincial People's Committee allocated nearly VND1 billion to carry out the survey, sampling for wastewater analysis and updating data for some of these sources.

Early settlement of environmental hot spots

Mr. Dung said that in order to overcome the pollution situation of Ba Bo canal, the provincial People's Committee instructed related agencies to implement measures to reduce pollution, such as dredging of mud and garbage, examining wastewater connection of enterprises in Song Than 1, Song Than 2 Industrial Zone... Thus, the content of organic pollutants on Ba Bo canal has decreased by 80% compared to previous, environmental landscape has been improved. PPC also cooperated with Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue an inter-provincial plan to strengthen the control and handling pollution situation of Ba Bo canal in the period 2017-2018.

In the coming time, Binh Duong will focus on developing and promulgating plans for waste water zoning of canals and rivers in the province; formulating investment projects on the construction of water drainage systems for industrial and urban development areas but without drainage infrastructure. The province also focuses on finishing environmental pollution areas in the province, such as Ba Bo canal, Chom Sao - Suoi Don drain.

Speaking at the recent 11th session of the Committee for Environmental and Dong Nai River Basin Protection, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan appreciated environmental protection activities in two years 2016-2017 of the localities. Specially, Binh Duong province put into operation Thuan An wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 17.000m3 / day in the first phase; launched the construction of Di An Urban wastewater treatment plant with the capacity of 20,000 m3 / day and night in the first phase, thereby contributing to overcoming water pollution situation in local urban areas and reducing pollution of discharges into of Dong Nai river basin.
