With no new case confirmed, June 5 marks the 50th day that Vietnam has gone without recording any single new COVID-19 infection caused by community transmission, while the number of fully recovered patients rose to 302 (92.1%), with only 26 positive cases left.

The nation’s COVID-19 infection tally now stays at 328, including 188 entering from epidemic-hit countries. The remaining patients are in stable conditions, with 14 of them having tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus once or at least twice.

Currently, more than 8,140 people are being quarantined for health observation nationwide, with 83 at hospitals and the remainder at other quarantine facilities and at their accommodations.

With regard to the 43-year-old British patient, the most critical COVID-19 case in the nation, he continues to display signs of health improvement wit half of his lungs’ capacity gradually recovering. However, doctors said that the patient’s condition was still severe and he will continue undergo strict health monitoring in the coming time.

Meanwhile, at an earlier meeting of National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on June 4, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam underlined the need to intensify inspection over foreign experts across the nation as around 2,700 are expected to enter the nation over the course of June and July.

The committee asked ministries, agencies, and localities to push ahead with quarantine measures in line with regulations set out by the Ministry of Health to ensure that there is no possibility of community-associated infection.
