Customs branch strives to support businesses and secure revenue

 Assisting and supporting enterprises is one of the key tasks that Binh Duong Customs Department has performed for many years. Especially, in the current context, as enterprises have just experienced great difficulties due to the Covid-19, the support of the authorities at all levels, including customs authority, is a firm foundation for enterprises to recover soon and regain its growth momentum. This is also an important factor contributing dynamically to the socio-economic development of Binh Duong province.

Binh Duong Customs enhances administrative procedure reform towards digitization to better serve businesses' needs.

 To create all good conditions

According to reports of provincial Department of Planning and Investment, due to the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of newly established enterprises decreased compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises temporarily suspended increased. As of June 15, 2020, the province attracted VND 25,686 billion of domestic business registration capital (down 6% year-on-year). Foreign investment attracted $853 million (equal to 65% year-on-year). The epidemic is also greatly affecting the transportation of goods between Vietnam and other countries, import-export activities in the province are also heavily impacted.

Right from beginning of the epidemic, the province and departments, branches have quickly come up with many scenarios and plans to assist and support businesses in overcoming difficulties. Many immediate supportive policies have been applied, helping businesses reduce difficulties in production and business activities. Binh Duong Customs Department has drastically carried out many solutions right from first months of the year to help enterprises overcome difficulties.

According to Le Van Danh, Deputy Director of provincial Customs Department, budget revenue of Binh Duong Customs Department by June 15, 2020 was VND 5,437 billion, down 9.06% compared to the same period last year, completing 38.08% the estimated assigned by Ministry of Finance and provincial People's Council. Provincial customs authority apprehended the Covid-19's negative impacts on import-export activities. The Department forecast that in the coming time, import-export activities of some enterprises using raw materials imported from countries affected by the epidemic would face more difficulties. The Department directed sub-departments to firmly grasp the import-export situation of enterprises to have supporting plan, especially to prioritize enterprises with large revenues, creating the most favorable conditions for businesses to secure revenue sources in 2020.

Ngo Tuan Oanh, Chairman of Taiwan Business Association in Binh Duong, said that Binh Duong Customs Department was the biggest partner that has been assisiting Taiwanese enterprises. The enthusiastic support of provincial Customs Department is an important contribution to help Taiwanese enterprises in the province overcome difficulties and stabilize production.

Many support solutions

Due to the difficult economic situation, to achieve the target of revenue collection in 2020, Binh Duong Customs Department put more efforts to carry out administrative procedure reform, find ways to approach, support, and solve difficulties for enterprises. During June alone, the Department directed its sub-departments to hold nearly 10 meeting and talks with businesses.

Through these meetings, provincial Customs Department wanted to hear about their business situation, problems and difficulties; receive comments on attitudes and working style of customs officials, and ideas on making policies and laws in order to create the most favorable conditions for production and business activities, especially in this difficult time. All recommendations and proposals of enterprises were directly answered by leaders of provincial Customs Department. Binh Duong Customs Department continues to affirm its commitment to assisting, being ready for listening to, sharing all difficulties, creating the most favorable conditions for businesses and investors.

Nguyen Thanh Binh, Director of Customs Sub-Department of Song Than Industrial Park, said that their Customs Branch determined to support enterprises. In cooperative activities, partnerships with businesses, this sub-department creates favorable conditions, helps businesses stabilize, expand, develop production and business, ensure that import-export enterprises increasingly comply with customs laws and import and export tax. Therefore, the problems were resolved satisfactorily, creating a high satisfaction and close connection between the customs and enterprises in import and export procedures.

Nguyen Phuoc Viet Dung, Director of Binh Duong Customs Department, said that in recent years, businesses in the province had gained much attention, support from provincial leaders and authorities, guidance and assistance of many departments and branches. Especially, during the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, production and business activities of enterprises have been affected, the support of the province were made more evident. Businesses are more confident and feel more secure when investing and doing business in Binh Duong. Provincial Customs Department pays special attention to the development of customs-business partnerships and is always ready to help enterprises.
