Department of 1ndustry and Trade consider solar energy project on water surfaces

Early August 12, Department of 1ndustry and Trade had a working session with enterprises on application for approval of surveying and researching the investments into solar energy plant at quarry lake at Binh Hoa Ward in Di An Town and Dau Tieng Lake in Dau Tieng District.

Under proposal of Vu Phong Energy 1nvestment JSC, it is capable of implementing solar energy plant of 45MWp on 65ha of land area and water surface costing about 900 billion VND of which the company would invest 20 billion VND. The plan for the proposed plant should last in 30 months and be available by 2021.

1n the meantime, Winland Joint Venture is prospective for floating solar energy plant of about 11,000 billion VND for 500MWp on floating system. The surveyed area for research is of 700ha in Dau Tieng Lake bordering Tay Ninh Province. The investor expects to install advanced solar cells without affecting irrigation role of the region.

At the working session, Department of 1ndustry and Trade asserted that the mentioned projects shall become the highlighted projects of renewable energy. However, ecosystem, security and social welfares should be considered. Participants at the session raised the opinions of updating regional planning and environment impact evaluation as the power grids are to be implemented. On reception of official decisions, the Department shall consult with local People’s Committee to consider and decide on the projects.
