Effective charity models

With good and creative ways, Tan Uyen town’s Red Cross Society has concretized a lot of campaigns effectively, offering help to people with difficult circumstances.

Nguyen Thi Phuong, Chairman of Tan Uyen town’s Red Cross Society said that over the past years, the society and its branches developed campaigns by many forms, aiming to mobilize the strength of sectors, authorities at all levels and people to offer help to the poor so that they could stabilize their lives and integrate into the community.

Under the “red cross” house construction model, households in need of housing in Tan Uyen town own new and spacious houses

One of effective models implemented by the town’s Red Cross Society was to build “red cross” houses for those who are in need of housing. This model received enthusiastic response from people from all strata. In 2017 alone, the society mobilized organizations and individuals to donate 4 “red cross” houses to needy households in wards and communes, namely Thanh Phuoc, Uyen Hung, Thai Hoa and Thanh Hoi.

Nguyen Van Tuan residing in Thai Hoa ward’s Tan My quarter has just been donated a “red cross” house worth VND70million, including VND30million from donors and the remainder from mass organizations and his family. He said that thanks to the attention and help of the local government and Red Cross Society, his family has owned such a spacious house. Especially, this year, his family will welcome a happy and warm Tet in the new house.

Over the past time, the town’s Red Cross Society also coordinated with the local Fatherland Front Committee to fund construction of a “great unity” house for a family whose house was damaged from landslide along Dong Nai river. The society also mobilized donors and physicians from HCM city Eye Hospital to provide eye surgery for needy people.

In 2017 alone, the association teamed up with relevant units to perform 317 eye surgery cases at the town’s Health Center with a total expense of VND951million; gave free meals for poor patients at the town’s Health Center; provided free medical check-ups and medicine for 400 needy people in wards of Tan Vinh Hiep, Phu Chanh and Tan Hiep ward…with a total value of VND67million. All the above deeds were implemented with a desire of bringing better values to the life of the community.

With more than 20,528 members, the town’s Red Cross Society well realized movements and campaigns, namely “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims”, “Each organization, individual should stick to a humanitarian address”, “Cow bank”, “Red Cross house”…over the past time. Many other charity activities in the town also created pervasive development, absorbing the interest of people from all strata.
