The first Vietnamese Young Intellectual Forum will take place in the central city of Da Nang from November 27-29, with 200 Vietnamese intellectuals residing domestically and abroad taking part.

The event aims to facilitate the role of young intellectuals in national construction and development, contributing to promoting the country’s economic integration in the region and the world.

It will also discuss and propose mechanisms to attract talent in a practical and effective way, raise ideas to fulfill national development goals, as well as provide a platform for the Government and authorities to consult young intellectuals about issues crucial to national development.

Themed “Tapping the power of young Vietnamese intellectuals in the 4.0 era”, the forum will focus on the three topics of promoting STEM to build a high-quality workforce in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution; adopting Industry 4.0 technology in environmental protection and climate change response; and promoting innovation in manufacturing and business.

The forum will also issue a report on recommendations from Vietnamese intellectuals around the world. A global network for young Vietnamese intellectuals and staff in charge of running the forum will also debut.

Among the 200 participants, 130 delegates come from within the country and the others from abroad, all aged below 35 years old.

Those interested in the forum should send applications to the organising board at No.64 Ba Trieu street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi or email twhoilhtnvn@gmail.com before November 5. Successful applicants will be chosen by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Vietnamese Students’ Association, the Union of Scientific-Technological Organisations, various research institutes, and the Vietnam Private Economy Forum.

At present, there are more than 400,000 Vietnamese intellectuals abroad, including over 6,000 doctorate degree holders and hundreds of well-known ones. Up to 150,000 are working in the US – of whom, roughly 12,000 working in Silicon Valley, upwards 100 at the World Bank, 40,000 in France, 20,000 in Canada, 4,000 in Eastern Europe and Russia, and 7,000 in Australia.
