Update: 12-05-2021 | 15:02:08

In the early days of May, Binh Duong provincial Trade Union continued to coordinate with trade unions at all levels to offer money from the Workers Support Fund to help workers in extremely difficult circumstances and suffering from dangerous diseases.  For 2 years, the meaningful source of money has promptly helped hundreds of workers in the province not only get rid of difficulties and illnesses but also rise and stay in the land they have chosen to establish their careers.

Firm support for working people

Following a staff of the provincial Trade Union who came to give the meaningful amount of money to the especially difficult workers in many enterprises and localities, we could not help but be moved by their very real and tearful situation. The life of the workers far away from their hometown is already difficult, now they even are suffering from more serious diseases, making the difficulty increase by many times.  The amount of VND 10 million a case is not much, but that was a very special sentiment and a timely resource to help them rise up and have confidence in life.

Tears rolled down the face Bui Thi Hong Tuyet, a worker of Foliot Vietnam Co. Ltd. in Song Than III Industrial Park of Phu Tan ward in Thu Dau Mot city as the delegation visited.  At the beginning of the story, she thought that she herself was unlucky when she was struggling to make her future intentions fulfilled.  Her hometown is in Nghe An, she went to Binh Duong to work for many years. Tuyet has been working at Foliot Company for more than a year.  About 5 months ago, she found her body tired, but unexpectedly, on her revisit to doctor, she had a terrible cancer. Much of the money saved over the past few years has gone into medical treatments.  The money spent on chemotherapy and medicines has also cost more than VND 200 million, not to mention food and travel expenses. Not having enough money for the treatments, she had to borrow from relatives, friends, and colleagues. Each month, her average income at the company without overtime is only about VND 6 million while hospital expenses and medicines can well lose her about VND 6-7 million.

Tuyet said: “The workers who are far away from their hometown are already experiencing difficulties. When they get sick, such illnesses are many times more difficult. Fortunately, I was able to work in a company with a kind boss, accompanied by the company's trade union, so I am also helped somewhat.” Tuyet also added that since she was sick, the company union has mobilized her colleagues and staff to contribute to support her treatments.  The company's Board of Directors agreed to let Tuyet leave her job for treatments and still receive her salary and full insurance participation.

Understanding the hardship of the workers, the representative of the provincial Trade Union, Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Deputy Chairwoman of the provincial Trade Union, graciously visited, encouraged and gave Tuyet VND 10 million from the Workers Support Fund. "This is the heart of the union organization with the expectation that the workers will continue to overcome difficulties in life,” said Tran.

Many workers helped

In the morning of May 8, the provincial Trade Union leaders also gave the amount of nearly VND 40 million to 4 workers in extremely difficult circumstances, of which, 3 workers with fatal diseases received VND 10 million a person.  They are Tran Thi Bich Ngoc (Dae Kwang Apparel Joint Stock Company), Nguyen Thi Hong An (Asti Electronics Co., Ltd.) and Nguyen Kim Cuong (Kwang Jin Wintec Vietnam Co., Ltd.).  A worker who received an allowance of VND 6 million in an occupational accident was Vo Thi Chi (Kueng Shyenq VN Company Limited).  After graciously visiting, sharing difficulties and giving support money to employees, Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran suggested grassroots trade unions should continue to pay attention and propose to the Board of Directors to facilitate practical supports to help employees alleviate difficulties in their work and life. Tran also encouraged and hoped that the employees would be constantly striving to rise up and stay with their jobs.

Before that, on May 7, leaders of the provincial Trade Union also visited the teachers of the 28-7 Kindergarten in My Phuoc ward of Ben Cat town. At the kindergarten, the leaders of the provincial Trade Union gave support to 5 families of poor workers with children studying at the school VND 1 million each.  These are 2 of the practical activities that have been and are being focused on by the provincial trade unions at all levels in Worker Month.

The contents being deployed by trade unions at all levels are continuing to be launched throughout the program of "75,000 initiatives for overcoming difficulties and developing",  the program of "Listening - Understanding - Sharing", the  activities of thanking the employees to promote the role of representation and participation in protecting jobs and proposing solutions to ensure income for employees, of  organizing activities to support union members, workers, and solutions to safe production, fire and explosion prevention, and proposing to improve the quality of meals for employees.
