Hi-tech agricultural development in association with market

Phu Giao district has attached special importance to hi-tech agricultural development. So far, this orientation has well upheld its efficiency, creating a great change in the local agricultural sector.

Agricultural development in right direction

Till now, the district’s agencies, mass organizations and People’s Committees of communes and Phuoc Vinh township have set up and implemented their plans to promote the local hi-tech agricultural production.

The district is now home to a hi-tech agricultural park of 411.75 hectares in An Thai commune and a hi-tech milk cow farm of 471.86 hectares in Phuoc Sang commune. In addition, there are 103 hi-tech farms on cultivation and animal husbandry, including 17 with VietGAP certificates.

So far, the district has developed many orchards with hi-tech economic efficiency, mainly in communes of An Thai, An Linh, Tam Lap, Phuoc Hoa and Phuoc Vinh township. The whole district now has a total of around 800 hectares of citrus fruit trees.

The district has also made procedures asking for the National Office of Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Science and Technology to grant the registration certificates of the “Phu Giao orange” and “Phu Giao pomelo” collective trademarks.

Consumption market development

Nguyen Truong Hai, Head of the district’s Plant Protection and Cultivation Station said that the unit has regularly monitored weather development to opportunely catch risks of diseases in crop plants of farmers. Particularly, the unit organized many tours inspecting the situation of diseases in crop plants; coordinated with relevant units to make dissemination of information about diseases in crop plants among farmers for timely prevention…

To Van Dat, Vice-Chairman of the district’s People’s Committee said that over the past years, the district’s hi-tech agriculture was fostered towards goods production in association with the market, improving the local farmers’ income. The local farmers have bravely changed to using new varieties with high productivity and quality to develop perennial trees while mechanizing their agricultural activities for better results.

Besides, the local farmers have focused on developing animal husbandry models on a large scale. The local shift of animal structure has bent on enhancing the quality of cattle and poultry with the support of agricultural promotion programs. Whilst, the local agricultural sector has also witnessed the birth of linkage models in production, consumption between cooperatives, linkage groups and enterprises…

In the coming time, the district will take full advantage of the efficiency of applications in the fourth industrial revolution for safe agriculture management and development. The district will also strengthen IT application into the local agricultural linkage chain; encourage the foundation of agricultural joint stock companies, cooperatives, linkage groups, cooperatives; continue boosting agricultural models under VietGAP standards at customers’ demand for safe food…
