In the coming time, the province’s investment attraction into industrial manufacture will be associated with spearhead industrial compound investment.

Urgent demand

Binh Duong is among the southern key economic zone’s top 4 industrial hubs with a strong point in terms of processing industry. The province’s industrial park network is zoned with a total area of 14,700 hectares in 2020, especially there are some large-scale industrial parks with more than 100 hectares.

Under the local overall plan on socio-economic development, industrial manufacture will be moved to the northern region of the province. Meanwhile, the province will promote urban development in the southern region under the “compression urban” model. The province’s industrial development will bring about urban, trade-service development in the northern region.

In the coming time, the province’s economy will continue being developed in association with regional connectivity, industrial development towards export. The province will attach special importance to hi-tech industrial development; foster economic sectors for production… The southern key economic zone has also formed up some linkage models on sectoral cluster in industrial manufacture.

At a conference on the linkage of the southern key economic zone, experts affirmed that the province’s industrial compound development will create favorable conditions for the local sustainable industrial development, promoting auxiliary industries, improving competitiveness of enterprises participating in the supply chain of compounds of industrial sectors.

Ho Van Binh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade said that over the past time, the number of enterprises in industrial manufacture during the 2011-2018 period increased by 9.5%. The province also focused on removing enterprises, mainly small and medium-sized ones outside industrial parks, compounds. This has required the province to make supplementary planning for industrial parks, compounds at the local demand of “land fund” for industrial development.

Developing spearhead industries

According to HCM city’s Development and Research Institute, many industries have not only brought about hi-economic efficiency, but also contributed to the local State budget. In the coming time, they need to continue being developed in the province. The province also needs to brace up enterprises to make sci-tech application into production; attach special importance to hi-tech enterprises…

Leader of the institute also proposed the province to set up spearhead industrial compounds on electronics, mechanism, garment-textile…Among them, the province needs to give priority to promoting the local mechanical compound.

Tran Dinh Thien, a member of the Government’s Economic Advisory Group said that strengthening hi-tech industries in Binh Duong will help Vietnamese enterprises get access to international standards through training support from large-scale enterprises in the supply chain. The province needs to promote its main enterprises like Becamex IDC in the long-term vision, ensuring sustainable development.
