In the first 5 months of 2021, the province's index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 8.04% over the same period last year. This is a good growth rate, affirming the province’s sound management via preventing and controlling Covid-19 pandemic effectively, promoting the local socio-economic development.

Synchronous solutions

In May, the fourth wave of Covid-19 epidemic appeared, making the province’s socio-economic situation further face many challenges. However, with the drastic instruction of the local authorities at all levels plus the efforts by the business community and people, the province has well curbed the pandemic while implementing economic growth solutions. As a result, the province's economy in the first 5 months of the year still achieved impressive results.

The province’s IIP in May was estimated at increasing by 6.5% and 10.9% compared to the previous month and the same period last year. Of these, processing and manufacturing industries rose by 6.6% and 11.4%; production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air-conditioning by 5.1% and 13.7%...Thus, the province’s IIP over the past five months was estimated at increasing by 8.04%. Of that amount, processing and manufacturing industries grew by 8.2%; production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air-conditioning by 14.75%; water supply, management and treatment of waste and wastewater by 10.5% over the same period last year. According to provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the above results showed the recovery momentum of the local industrial manufacture from late 2020, thanks to effective solutions against the pandemic along with policies to support businesses, stimulating domestic demand and open up foreign markets, boosting exports.

So far, measures against Covid-19 pandemic in industrial parks, compounds and clusters as well as in businesses in the province have been activated at the highest level. Along with making the self-assessment of the risk of Covid-19 infection, establishing Covid-19 safe groups, all businesses have fully prepared materials and plans for pandemic prevention and control under the “4 on-site” motto. In case of the pandemic getting complicated, they will isolate all workers on site to maintain production. They said that since early this year, orders get more stable, but the high steel price, combined with the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic is likely to greatly affect their production activities. Therefore, in addition to policies on tax extension support, businesses want to soon access vaccine resources in order to vaccinate workers.

Efforts to keep growth momentum

In the face of the complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic, provincial People's Committee has asked for departments, sectors and localities to be responsible for urging and inspecting pandemic prevention and control among businesses while supporting businesses to maintain production. According to Vuong Van Nghia, Deputy General Director of Polytex Far Eastern (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. in the Bau Bang Industrial Park, the company’s factory currently produces masks and offer them to employees. All workers must have body temperature checked, wear masks, and make disinfection before entering the company. The company’s rooms, departments, workshops, canteen... are disinfected every day. In case of detecting a person with suspected symptoms of Covid-19, the company’s rapid response team will deploy a plan to handle, prevent and control the pandemic.

Many enterprises with production and business for a long time have early built an online sales system, helping them be proactive in market and make transactions through e-commerce floors... Others have adjusted their business strategies, focusing on domestic market while accelerating production to increase revenue, greatly contributing to limiting the decline of the local industrial manufacture, due to the impacts of the pandemic.

According to Nguyen Thanh Toan, Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade, implementing measures against the pandemic to protect industrial parks and compounds is the top task in order to maintain the growth momentum of the local industrial production in June and the remaining months of 2021. In addition to speeding up the construction of a safety map for Covid-19 prevention and control, carrying out safe production criteria, provincial Department of Industry and Trade has required the management boards of industrial parks, compounds to inspect and ask for enterprises to recheck and adjust necessary tasks and solutions in order to prevent the pandemic while ensuring production. Leaders of industrial parks, compounds, factories and businesses in the province must make written commitments and take responsibility for tasks and solutions against the pandemic. Provincial Department of Industry and Trade has also suggested localities to jointly handle the sector’s cadres and civil servants if they are negligent or subjective in Covid-19 prevention and control…
