Journey “following the footsteps of heroes” expresses “when drinking water, remember its source” moral principle

Provincial Youth Federation yesterday held a ceremony to launch the 2017 journey “following the footsteps of heroes” at Doan Thi Lien park in Ben Cat town’s Chanh Phu Hoa ward.

Since early July, provincial Youth Unions at all levels have organized a variety of significant activities for policy beneficiaries on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, including providing free medical check-ups, medicine and gifts for heroic Vietnamese mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers, policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors; cleaning up martyrs’ cemeteries, tombs; realizing flower garden works, upgrading historical relics, monuments; organizing talk shows reviewing the glorious tradition of Vietnamese people and army…

At the ceremony, the organizers also implemented a series of such significant activities as providing free medical check-ups, medicine for people; offering 50 gifts to policy beneficiary families; inaugurating a youth flower garden “following Uncle Ho’s teachings”, upgrading Doan Thi Lien park; donating houses of compassion to needy youngsters; visiting and offering gifts to 4 heroic Vietnamese mothers in Ben Cat town under the “sentimental bus trip” program…

Youngsters across the province will also respond to the journey with the following targets: having 1,000-1,200 people under free medical check-up, collecting 250-300 units of blood; mobilizing organizations, individuals to donate at least one house of gratitude and one house of compassion; offering at least 300 gifts and organizing at least 9 “sentimental bus” trips with visiting and taking care of heroic Vietnamese mothers, war invalids and martyrs’ families, upgrading and cleaning up 9 martyrs’ cemeteries, historical relics…

Nguyen Tan Dat, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union and Chairman of provincial Youth Federation said that on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, the Central Committee of Vietnam Youth Federation has kicked off a journey “following the footsteps of heroes” in 70 places nationwide, aiming to promote patriotism and national pride among Youth Union members. The journey has also been implemented by provincial Youth Federation from July 1 to 27, 2017.

The above activities will contribute to showing the local young people’s moral principle of “when drinking water, remember its source”, paying tribute to heroic Vietnam mothers, policy beneficiary families and martyrs who laid down their lives for national independence and freedom.
