Lai Thieu joins hands in environmental protection

Lai Thieu is a central ward of Thuan An town. The ward has boosted a task of propagandizing and mobilizing locals to join hands in environmental protection.

Lai Thieu ward has constantly strengthened propaganda activities, aiming to raise public awareness on environmental protection. Nguyen Trai quarter is selected for the pilot implementation of the models “Civilized urban street” and “Quarter without waste”. Accordingly, the model of classifying inorganic and organic waste is implemented at 1,000 households living on the street. Big-sized wastebaskets are also equipped along the street. All waste in the right place will be collected on time, aiming to keep environmental hygiene…

From the models of “Civilized urban street” and “Quarter without waste”, the ward has continued replicating a program named “Collecting waste on Saturday”. The ward has so far set up a surveillance group, made propaganda on keeping environmental hygiene and installed some signs “Do not leave litter” at paths leading to villages.

Every Saturday morning, the ward’s group on environmental protection mobilizes locals to clean up their houses, commit to protect the environment and not encroach on the pavement…Upon this, big and small streets around the ward that were previously unhygienic have to date looked very nice and clean.

Possibly speaking, through propaganda work, the ward has raised the local people’s awareness of the role and importance of practicing civilized urban lifestyle, joining hands in environmental protection. The ward has also diversified propaganda programs on environmental protection. From practical models, the local people have got deep awareness of the harmful effects of environmental pollution, thereby having environmentally friendly actions.

Upholding initial results, the ward will continue strengthening environmental management, well realize waste collection and encourage locals and economic organizations to take part in environmental protection projects. The ward will also concentrate on handling production-trading facilities that cause environmental pollution…, contributing to building up a greener, cleaner and nicer Lai Thieu.
