Local price stabilization program upholds its efficiency

Update: 13-02-2017 | 14:02:15

Eleven enterprises have continued taking part in the 2017 provincial price stabilization program. Since early this year, the program has contributed to stabilizing market prices in the province. But, according to the assessment of the local functional sectors, there are some issues that need to be solved for better results.

Supply, prices remain stable

The province’s price stabilization program for essential commodities during the last Tet (Lunar New Year) festival was highly appreciated by locals. This result came from the efforts by participating enterprises and the local functional sectors, including provincial Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT).

Reportedly, most participating enterprises this year have been proactive in mobilizing capital to stockpile commodities valued at more than VND1.34trillion. There were also 11 enterprises getting involved in reserving commodities before, during and after Tet with a total value of more than VND610billion or 100% of the set plan.

According to provincial DoIT, participating enterprises prepared an ample supply of Tet commodities with diversification in pattern and listed prices. They also launched a lot of promotional programs; organized mobile sales trips in association with joyful market-days of bringing Vietnamese commodities to rural areas. As many as 1,208 points for households to trade in fruits, ornamental trees, confectionary…at locals’ demand for Tet shopping were also arranged. Besides, the local functional agencies boosted the fight against trade fraud, fake products during Tet.

Province-based petroleum enterprises, namely Pham Ton Co.Ltd., Song Be Petroleum One-Member Co.Ltd. and Thanh Le General Trading-Import Export Corporation also ensured an adequate supply for Tet.

Possibly seeing, the objective of the 2017 provincial price stabilization program for the period before, during and after Tet has been well implemented by the local functional agencies and enterprises. This has contributed to creating a stable supply of goods, ensuring a balance between supply and demand, stabilizing market prices…

Good coordination

For better results, according to Nguyen Tan Long, Depute Head of Phu Giao district’s Division of Economics, the province needs to maintain and promote its programs of bringing Vietnamese commodities to rural areas, contributing to stabilizing market prices.

As surveyed, province-based supermarkets and plazas stockpiled a large amount of commodities for Tet and pledged that they would realize support by launching their reserved products with normal prices when there were any signs of goods scarcity and price rises. But, at some markets in TDM city, Thuan An town, the prices of several goods rose up compared to normal days.

Provincial DoIT will boost coordination with relevant units to create stable a stable supply of goods with more reasonable prices; suggest the province to increase enterprises who will get loans from the program; call for more participating enterprises; strengthen points selling goods with stabilized prices, especially in rural areas…for better results.
