Local targets on socio-economic development surpass year’s plan

Provincial People’s Committee yesterday held a periodic session in November 2019, which was presided over by Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee. 29 out of 31 targets surpassing year’s plan

Reportedly, the province’s socio-economic performance in 2019 has continued obtaining stable development. There were 29 out of 31 targets reaching and exceeding the year’s plan. Particularly, the province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth was estimated at 8.95%. The average GRDP per capita was VND140.8million. The province’s economic structure was developed with 64.1% in industry, 25% in services, 3% in agriculture and 7.9% in taxes less subsidies on production.

Noticeably, there were some economic targets with the highest growth in recent 5 years. For example, the province’s index of industrial production surged 9.86%. The province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services was more than VND227.8trillion, a year-on-year increase of 19.2%. The province’s consumer price index (CPI) in 2019 was estimated at surging 2%. The province’s total export value was more than US$27.7billion, up 15.6% compared to the same period last year. The province’s trade surplus was estimated at nearly US$7billion.

In 2019, provincial People’s Committee also focused on implementing policies in all fields; paid attention to removing enterprises’ obstacles; opportunely handed queries in sectors, fields and of each locality. In addition, the province fulfilled the local population and housing census 2019; reviewed provincial Party Committee’s breakthrough programs for the 2016-2020 period; well mobilized resources for development and investment…

The province’s total capital for social development was more than VND114.66billion, up 15.8% against 2018. In terms of domestic investment, the province has so far attracted 41,765 projects with total registered capital of more than US$353.9trillion. Over the past 10 months, the province also lured more than US$2.77billion in FDI capital, surpassing 98% of the year’s plan, up 69% against the corresponding period last year. Thus, the province has till now drawn 3,732 FDI projects with total registered capital of US$35.1billion.

The province also continued paying more attention to social welfare. The whole province mobilized VND 986billion from many resources to take care of social policy beneficiaries, upgrade 30 gratitude houses and 120 “great unity” houses with total expense of more than VND9billion.

According to a draft resolution on socio-economic development plan for 2020, provincial People’s Committee has defined 31 major targets, in which the province will strive to get the GRDP growth of 8.6%-8.8% compared to 2018…

Strengthening capital disbursement for public investment

In 2019, provincial People’s Committee concentrated on drastically directing the implementation of solutions to hasten the progress of capital disbursement for public investment. But, the province’s capital disbursements for public investment remained slow. Particularly, capital disbursement value in October was more than VND4.71trillion, or 37.8% of the plan. Eligible volume for capital disbursement in 2019 was more than VND 9.85billion or 78.9% of the plan.

For the rest of the year, the province will bend on implementing some instructions of the Government at the Resolution No.94/NQ-CP dated October 29, 2019 on major tasks, measures to speed up disbursement progress for public investment in 2019 and the Law on Public Investment No.39/2019/QH14….

Concluding the session, Mr.Liem acknowledged achievements by the province in 2019. He also asked for sectors, authorities at all levels to pay more attention to the result of capital disbursement for public investment; speed up the progress of construction of major works; tighten control over land; advise provincial People’s Committee on propaganda plans for the organization of Party congresses at all levels; boost the progress of construction of expanded industrial parks…
