Local youngsters with “Sentimental attachment to national sea and islands”

With great significance, the “Sentimental attachment to national sea and island” campaign has continued being promoted among the local youths.

The  Sentimental attachment to national sea and islandcampaign 2017 under the theme of “firmly guarding national sea and island sovereignty, starting up from sea” has absorbed the participation of 500 students nationwide.

Reportedly, this year’s “Students with national sea and islands” journey in Phu Quy island district took place with practical activities such as designing camps; opening an exhibition on scientific research model regarding national sea and islands; building youth works; visiting and presenting gifts to the families of war invalids, martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers, the families of soldiers on duty on the island; offering gifts and national flags to fishermen; launching a contest making traditional products on national sea and islands…

It is known that provincial Student Association had good preparation before taking part in the journey. Coming to the journey, volunteers of the province got involved in practical activities such as cleaning up beaches; coordinating with Phu Quy island district’s Youth Union to organize summer activities for children at Ngu Phung communal Cultural House; opening a English class for Youth Union members in Tam Thanh commune; offering notebooks, pens and confectionary to children; providing free medical check-ups and medicine for poor households and elderly people in the district… They also visited a memorial temple for martyrs in the district; carried out a freshwater bathroom and public toilet area at Trieu Duong beach.

In 2016 alone, provincial Youth Union implemented a total of nearly 25 youth activities and works worth approximately VND1billion from the local “Sentimental attachment to national sea and islands” fund. Particularly, provincial Youth Union presented 100 national flags, 20 Uncle Ho’s portraits, gifts and scholarships worth nearly VND110million to cadres and soldiers on duty in the Marine Police Region 5 in Phu Quoc island district’s An Thoi commune in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.

Provincial Youth Union also donated blankets and 40 scholarships worth VND50million to pupils with difficult circumstances in Meo Vac district in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang; supported construction of a road in Ban Sen commune’s Dien Xa village in Van Don district in the northern province of Quang Ninh; offered VND100million as relief aid to the Youth Unions in areas hit by floods in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai…
