Man fined for posting fake news on Covid-19

On June 16, 2021, a representative of Tan Uyen town’s Police Agency said that the local Police Agency was consolidating dossiers of Tran Hao Nam (17 years old, living in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward’s Khanh Loi quarter in Tan Uyen town) about his behavior of "Posting fake news about Covid-19 pandemic on his personal Facebook, causing anxiety among the community” for handling in accordance with the law.

According to the local police agency, Nam is the owner of a Facebook account with the nick name of "Tan Trieu Nguyet". At 9 pm on June 13, the local police agency discovered that a Facebook account with the nick name of "Tan Trieu Nguyet" posted information about a positive case with Covid-19 in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward with the content: "In the morning, the local police discovered a femal oldie coughing a lot when making investigation at the post office related to F2 cases. And then they took a sample for Covid-19 testing from her with positive result...", which is attached with some other nick names, the picture of the oldie and an ambulance below. Right after that, Tan Phuoc Khanh ward’s police coordinated with the Security Team of Tan Uyen town’s Police Agency to inspect and verify that the above content was untrue.

The man admitted all his violations and deleted the above information. Currently, the case is being fined by functional forces in accordance with the law.
