Market days to support needy people in lodging houses

Update: 19-07-2021 | 11:37:45

On July 18, Provincial Red Cross collaborated with departments, agencies and sponsors to organize a "VND0" market day to support workers in lodging houses who are facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Thu Dau Mot city.

300 people staying at lodging houses received vouchers to go to the market day to choose and buy free essential items, vegetables and fruits according to their needs, each voucher worth about 500,000 VND. All goods at this market were supported by businesses and benefactors in Binh Duong province and people of Quang Tri province. To ensure the distance of disease prevention control, the organizers distributed vouchers to people coming to the market day at different time frames to avoid crowds. At the entrance, the organizers also arranged staff to ensure social security and order, guide people through the market, queue up, wear face mask and disinfect hands.

Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of Provincial Red Cross, said that apart from other forms of support, the association maintained regular fairs and market days to support people who are facing difficulties, especially poor workers in lodging houses. In addition to fairs held at a place of Provincial Red Cross on 30-4 Street in Phu Hoa Ward (Thu Dau Mot City), the Red Cross will cooperate with other units to bring market days to distant areas to timely support people in difficult times.
