Lai Thieu in Thuan An has been attractive to visitors by its orchards and now holds in his name Nguyen Van Rang, 88, residing at Cho Quarter in Lai Thieu Ward of Thuan An Town – a senior acclaimed with top 10 records of will recognized by Worldkings who has honored 10 records of will of senior citizens.

Receiving us by a warm smile, Rang disclose his secrets of healthy life of physical exercises and regular diet to earn complexion of healthiness. The seemingly simple moves have helped him to overcome illness. And, the best luck of all is his understanding wife. Throughout his practice, he is assisted by Le Thi Ho, 83, in terms of drinks and foods. She also buys nutrition books to arrange suitable menus which we have seen of fruits, vegetables, fish, and shrimp.

Mountain climbing is so adventurous that people without strength and valor as well as experience could not attend. The experience he mentioned was the climbing of Fansipan. To prepare for the true test, Rang carried backpack and climb up staircases of 4-storey building, equivalent to 68 staircase steps. For every morning, he had climbed 50 times in 2.5 hours which was 3,400 steps of staircases. The exercise helped him with slope climbing and strength. From his 70s to 84, he had 4 times climbed to the top of Fansipan. He has also climbed up artificial mountain of 16 meters high for 160 times. Currently, he is still practicing to climb up Gia Lao, Ba Ba and staircases for health.

Rang had proved that age could not barred up his steps on Fansipan and he was so proud of it. He is worthy of a model of senior people for others to follow.

At the ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of unification of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (April 1, 2008 to April 1, 2018), Huynh Van Rang was awarded by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism a commemorate for the cause of culture, sports and tourism.
