Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will attend the upcoming Communist Party of China (CPC) in Dialogue with World Political Parties' High-Level Meeting in Beijing at the invitation of the Chinese Government, the Myanmar News Agency has reported.

Leaders from more than 200 parties and political organisations in more than 120 countries have registered for the meeting, which is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 3.

According to the official announcement, Suu Kyi, who is also Foreign Minister of Myanmar, will also pay a visit to China on the occasion to strengthen bilateral relations between Myanmar and China.

The visit, which marked her first trip to a foreign country outside of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, a regional grouping to which Myanmar belongs, highlighted the priority Myanmar places on its northern neighbour.
