Numerous cruise ships flocking to Vietnam

The international cruise ship World Dream with 3,000 tourists onboard on February 6 arrived in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, followed by several other ships this month such as Celebrity Constellation, Celebrity Millennium, Mariner of the Seas and Glory Sea.

According to Saigontourist Travel Service Company, multiple cruise ships will carry nearly 34,000 international tourists and crew members to HCMC, Nha Trang, Danang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Halong this month.

It is noteworthy that the number of big ships with each carrying more than 3,000 tourists coming or returning to Vietnam is increasing.

Glory Sea cruise ship has arrived in Vietnam six times and Celebrity Millennium two times, proving Vietnam is more attractive to foreign cruise tourists, said Lam Thi Quynh Thu, deputy director of marketing and communications at Saigontourist.

According to Saigontourist, cruise tourism grew well last year, and half of international visitors served by the company were cruise passengers. The tour operator welcomed 210 vessels docking at ports in HCMC, Vung Tau, Danang, Nha Trang, Hue and Halong with a total of over 400,000 passengers and crew members, up 30% year-on-year.

The number of cruise tourists is expected to increase 15% this year.
