Over VND159billion saved to help women in poverty reduction

Early January 20, provincial Women’s Union held a conference to review its activities in 2016 and extend orientations, tasks for 2017, in attendance of Nguyen Thanh Liem, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Public Relations, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels last year organized a lot of practical activities taking care of needy members, disabled and lonely people; mobilized organizations, individuals to build houses of compassion; opened vocational training courses, support loans…Under the movement of “Women helping each other in economic development”, there were 6,917 well-off women offering help of more than VND12.72trillion to 5,234 poor ones. Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels also set up 3,866 saving groups with 138,059 members and VND26.3million; well realized emulation movements…

Addressing the conference, Mr.Liem acknowledged contributions by provincial Women’s Unions at all levels to the local development while suggesting them to continue realizing activities towards grassroots and women’s aspirations; flexibly apply movements in each locality in association with improving members’ lives…
