Over VND501billion spent on poverty reduction for 2016-2020 period

According to provincial People’s Committee’s plan on realizing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the province’s total subsidy for poor and near-poor households for the 2016-2020 period is estimated at more than VND501.4billion.

To effectively realize the plan, provincial People’s Committee has suggested provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to check and monitor the results of the local poverty reduction. Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been ordered to further develop its new rural construction program and replicate effective poverty reduction models in communes with many poor households. Provincial People’s Committee also needs to work with provincial Department of Education and Training to implement support policies for pupils, students belonging to poor and near-poor households; coordinate with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies’Binh Duong branch to provide preferential loans for poor, near-poor households, pupils and students with difficult circumstances as stipulated. In addition, the People’s Committees of districts, towns and TDM city need to strengthen their Steering Boards of the National Target Program on Poverty Reduction; sufficiently and opportunely carry out policies for poor and near-poor households…
