PM Phuc hosts Japanese, Hungarian diplomats

He also expressed his delight at the growing extensive strategic partnership between the two countries, noting that the number of Japanese investors in Vietnam has been on the rise, especially in banking, infrastructure and hi-tech agriculture.

The government leader told the diplomat that earlier on September 12, he worked with the Hanoi National University to which the Vietnam-Japan University is a member. 

After inspecting the progress of the Vietnam-Japan University in Hoa Lac, he directed relevant agencies to acclerate the implementation of the project, which he described as a symbol of the sound relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Kuinio Umeda in turn said the Vietnam-Japan University will contribute to strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

Many Japanese investors want to invest in Vietnam, especially in areas such as thermal power development, support industry, hi-tech agriculture, and climate change response, he said while expressing his hope that authorized agencies of both sides will continue offering optimal conditions for closer connectivity between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses.

Currently, Japan is the top investor of Vietnam, with more than US$5 billion registered by the end of June this year, accounting for 26 % of total foreign investment.

At his reception for Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Ory Csaba in Hanoi the same day, PM Phuc highlighted the upcoming visit to Vietnam by Hungarian PM Orban Vicktor as an important event that will open up numerous cooperation opportunities for the two countries with a range of agreements due to be signed. 

The cabinet leader underlined the need for the two sides to make thorough preparations for the success of the trip and praised Hungary for continuously regarding Vietnam a priority partner in its development cooperation policies.

Hungary is Vietnam’s largest official development assistance (ODA) provider in the Central Eastern Europe, he said, thanking the Hungarian Government’s support for the construction of Can Tho Oncology Hospital which can meet health care demands of 20 million people in Vietnam’s Mekong region. 

He called on Hungary to urge the EU to soon reach the free trade agreement with Vietnam.

He suggested the diplomat encourage Hungarian businesses to invest in areas of Vietnam’s demands like health care, water resource management and food processing. 

The PM noted his belief that Ambassador Ory Csaba will make effective contributions to reinforcing the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary. 

Ambassador Ory Csaba expressed his hope that he will make significant contributions to the bilateral ties, and that PM Orban Vicktor’s visit will add fresh impetus to the relationship. 

He said following suggestions of PM Orban Vicktor, Hungary will double the number of scholarships to Vietnamese students from the present 100. 

The ambassador called on the two countries to push partnerships in health care, water treatment and supply, computing, e-public administration, agriculture and food safety.
