Preparations for upcoming elections fulfilled basically

As of now, provincial Election Committee has basically completed preparations for the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure.

Nguyen Van Minh, Director of provincial Department of Home Affairs, member of provincial Party Standing Committee said that preparations for the elections for the 15th National Assembly and People's Council at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure has been basically completed in accordance with the law and on schedule, thereby showing the sense of responsibility, synchronous and regular coordination of the local Party organizations, authorities and Fatherland Front Committees at all levels. As of March 3, provincial Committees at all levels and election groups completed the listing of candidates and their brief biographies at the headquarters of the People's Committees at the same level and at 1,100 polling stations.

Provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have set up plans on the organization of meetings between voters and the candidates for election campaigns. Specifically, provincial Fatherland Front Standing Committee has issued a plan for the candidates for the 15th National Assembly and provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 tenure to meet with voters for election campaigns from May 5 to 20. Provincial Fatherland Front Standing Committee has issued documents directing the local Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to actively develop plans to organize meetings with voters so that the candidates will make their election campaigns in accordance with the requirements of the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

Also according to Mr. Minh, provincial Election Standing Committee, on May 9, coordinated with relevant agencies to disseminate the model of “model polling booth” via the mass media and the process of voting at polling stations, aiming to create the local unity in decoration of polling booths and voting process. Up to now, material facilities for the elections have been prepared well. Provincial Department of Home Affairs has completed the issuance of the “Election Team” seal, the “Voting” seal, the ballot boxes and other documents serving the elections to localities; continued coordinating with the local Election Committees at all levels to complete and make experiment for software to synthesize election results.

Under  the instructions of provincial Party Committee, People's Committee and Election Committee, sectors and authorities at all levels of the province have actively made dissemination of information about the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils deputies at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure. Provincial Election Committee noted that from now until the election day, May 23, it is necessary for localities and relevant units to strengthen propaganda, create an exciting atmosphere, express the spirit and meaning of the special important political event; implement synchronous measures to ensure security, and social order before, during and after the election day. Along with that, they need to well realize measures against Covid-19 pandemic, especially at polling stations; set up plans for people to go to the vote in isolation medical areas for Covid-19 prevention-control and localities if the outbreak of Covid-19 occurs.

The total number of voters in the province as of May 7 was 1,706,590, an increase of 336 compared to the statistics on April 29. Specifically, localities with decrease in the number of voters include Tan Uyen town (5,954 voters) and Bau Bang district (12 voters). Localities with increase in the number of voters include Thu Dau Mot city (2,922 voters), Ben Cat town (3,125 voters), Dau Tieng district (41 voters) and North Tan Uyen district (214 voters). Localities with no change in the number of voters compared to the statistics on April 29 are Thuan An city, Di An city and Phu Giao district. Thus, after the review on May 7, 2021, the situation of voters in some above-mentioned localities has fluctuated. Provincial Election Standing Committee continues urging and reminding localities to further review and update the situation of population and voters in each period.
