Province effectively realizes major tasks on socio-economic development

Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee yesterday presided over a periodic session with focus on reviewing the local socio-economic development, national defence-security in April; approving some reports to be submitted to the upcoming session of provincial People’s Council together other important contents.

Economic growth

In April, the province’s index of industrial production surged 8.99% compared to the previous month and 14.54% compared to last year’s corresponding period. The province’s total retail value of commodities and services was estimated at VND13.4trillion. Thus, the value in the first four months of the year reached more than VND52.6trillion, up 19.9% against last year’s same period.

The province’s export turnover was estimated at US$2.2billion in April and around VND8.5billion in the first four months of the year, up 16.3% against last year’s same period. The province’s main export industries of textile-garment, footwear, woodwork, electronics… also gained high growth at 6.7%, 10%, 10.4%, 10.4%.... Meanwhile, the province’s import value was US$1.6billion in April and US$6.2billion in the first four months of the year.

The province’s investment attraction continued getting thriving. In April, the whole province absorbed more than VND5trillion in domestic capital from 519 newly-registered projects and extra-ones, US$94.5million in FDI capital from 21 newly-registered projects and 9 extra-ones. Over the past four months, the province lured more than US$1.43billion in FDI capital or 102.2% of the year’s plan.

Since early this year, the province has also made efforts in handling cases encroaching on pavements, ensuring urban order and traffic safety; tightened control over the quality of construction works and ensured labor safety…The province is fulfilling procedures recognizing TDM city as a first-class city.

Well realizing the set tasks

Over the past time, the province excelled at social welfare work. The province sufficiently and opportunely realized policies for policy beneficiary and poor households. Besides, the province carried out a survey on the implementation of poverty reduction policies and set up methods on poverty line for the period of 2018-2020…

The province also well realized vocational training and enrollment at vocational schools. In April alone, the province gave job introduction and consultancy for 11,477 laborers, 4,380 of whom got stable jobs.

Regarding education-training, the province implemented the organization of the 2017 national high-school graduation exam and university enrollment; prepared for the 2017 high-school admission exam; boosted application of information technology in education at all levels…The province also successfully organized the 2^nd National “Don Ca Tai Tu” (southern folk music) Festival…

Concluding the session, Mr.Liem suggested sectors and authorities at all levels of the province to focus on carrying out tasks and solutions in order to well fulfill the local plan in 2017. Sectors and localities also need to soon complete contents for the 2017-mid session of provincial People’s Council; manage the 2017 State budget more positively and closely under the law; practice thrift, cutting down some spending items as stipulated; effectively implement the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction, social welfare policies; continue well realizing policies for revolutionary contributors, policy beneficiary families, workers…
