Province further gains stable socio-economic development

Provincial People’s Committee yesterday convened its periodic session on June, 2017 with focus on approving a report on the local socio-economic development, national defence-security in the first half of 2017 and orientations, tasks for the rest of the year; a report on the local results of implementation of public investment in the first half of the year…Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People’s Committee chaired the session.

Economic targets at growth

The province’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate in the first half of 2017 reached 7.85% compared to the same period last year. Of these, industrial manufacture-construction rose by 8.41%, services by 7.61% and agro-forestry-fisheries by 3.76%.

The province continued gained stability in industrial manufacture. The province’s index of industrial production (IIP) surged 8.58% against the same period last year. Of these, mining sector grew by 5.86%; processing sector by 8.58%; production and distribution of electricity, gas and water by 10.88%...Some sectors with high growth included metal production (14.96%), electrical appliances (12.66%), electronic appliances (17.5%)…

The whole province is now home to 28 industrial parks (Ips) of 10,560 hectares with the rate of land tenancy of 71% and 11 industrial compounds of 802 hectares with the rate of land tenancy of 54.9%. In the first half of the year, province-based Ips absorbed US$1.51million or 93.3% of the province’s total FDI capital. The province is implementing construction of some new Ips and has said ok to the An Lap industrial compound project in Dau Tieng district.

The province also continued effectively realizing the campaign of “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” and the program of “bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas, residential quarters and industrial parks”. Over the past six months, the province’s total retail sales of commodities and services reached more than VND80billion, up 20% compared to the corresponding period Province’s export turnover was estimated at US$13.08billion, up 16.7% while import value was US$9.8billion, up 15.8% against the same period last year.

In terms of investment attraction, the province absorbed more than VND18.49trillion in domestic capital, up 41.6% over the same period last year and more than US$1.61billion in FDI capital or 115.6% of the year’s plan.

Over the past six months, the province’s total capital for social development was estimated at more than VND29.88billion, up 10.9% compared to the same period last year while total capital for public investment was more than VND982billion or 13.7% of the year’s plan.

The province also well realized tasks and measures to promote the local investment climate. This helped the local indexes of competitiveness, administrative reform be improved considerably.

Social welfare ensured

The province took good care of the lives of poor and near-poor households, revolutionary contributors and workers over the past six months.

Particularly, the province mobilized around VND821billion from many resources to realize social welfare activities, build, upgrade 48 gratitude and great unity houses while well carrying out policies for policy beneficiary families…

The province also organized 8 job transaction sessions, absorbing 1,276 businesses and 25,692 laborers or 57% of the year’s plan; well realized policies for laborers; excelled at public healthcare, deployed communication campaigns on environmental hygiene, tightened monitoring and prevention over epidemic diseases, launched the Action Month for Food Safety and Hygiene…

One of remarkable activities done by the province during the period was to successfully organize the 2nd national “Don Ca Tai Tu” (southern folk music) festival. The province also continued well maintaining its mass sports movements while the province’s high-achievement sports teams also won prizes at tournaments. In addition, the province got animated with tourism activities on the occasion of the Lady Thien Hau temple festival, April 30 and May 1 holiday…

Addressing the session, Mr.Liem spoke highly of achievements done by the province over the past six months. He also asked for sectors and authorities at all levels of the province to focus on directing the implementation of main tasks and measures to improve the local investment climate; actively make socialization of the local socio-economic infrastructure development and investment; carry out a project on Binh Duong smart city, a national target program on new rural construction for the period of 2016-2020; realize restructuring of the agricultural sector…
