Province further implements "dual tasks", ensuring development

Yesterday morning (June 18), Nguyen Hoang Thao, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee chaired an online session of provincial People's Committee with focus on reviewing the local socio-economic situation in the period of 2016-2020 and plan for socio-economic development in the period of 2021-2025. The session was attended by leaders of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, departments and sectors in the province.

Sustainable growth

Although facing challenges, the province in the period of 2016-2020 reached comprehensive results in socio-economic development, thanks to the attention and drastic direction of provincial Party Committee, People's Committee along with the efforts by all-level authorities, sectors, people and business community in the province.

Accordingly, the province’s economic growth in the period of 2016-2020 gained 9.04%. The local economic structure continued shifting in the right direction with industry - service - agriculture - product taxes less subsidies on production at 66.94% - 21.98% - 3.15% - 7.93%, respectively. The province’s total gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita was VND151 million per year. The province’s index of industrial production increased by 9.33%/ year. The province’s total capital for social investment accounted for 33.2% of GRDP. The province’s total retail sales revenue of goods and services increased by 15.8% year. The province’s export turnover increased by 9.8%/year, with an average trade surplus of over US$ 5 billion/year. The province also reached VND259.95 trillion in State budget collection, an average increase of 11.9%/year while State budget spending was more than VND 95.53 trillion, an average increase of 14.3%/year…

Along with that, the province’s tasks of improving capacity, effectiveness and efficiency in management and administration, focusing on solving pressing issues in administrative reform were supported by people and businesses with provincial competitiveness index continuing being improved. The province also paid more attention to social welfare with national defense – security, social order and safety maintained.

 

Along with the above-mentioned results, the province’s socio-economic situation has still faced a number of shortcomings pertaining to the quality of hi-quality services for change; the transformation of functions of industrial parks and compounds in the southern region of the province; the development of transport infrastructure; the progress of a number of provincial and central plans...

Further implementing "dual tasks"

At the session, delegates focused on discussing and contributing ideas to the following contents: the regulation on contribution of land use rights and adjustment of land use rights to implement investment projects in the province; the program of synchronous urban development associated with the construction of Binh Duong Smart City; the plan to realize the project on prevention of river bank erosion until 2030 in the province; the plan to train cadres, civil servants abroad in the period of 2021-2025.

 

In the period of 2021-2025, the province will continue implementing the "dual goals" of Covid-19 prevention-control and socio-economic development, ensuring people's lives; strive to stabilize and get economic growth that is higher than the period of 2016-2020; accelerate the renewal of economic growth model in association with the implementation of strategic breakthroughs; ensure social welfare, constantly improving people’s material and spiritual lives; enhance the efficiency of environmental protection; stabilize political security, social order and safety; strengthen external activities, strive to build up Binh Duong province with sustainable development towards a smart, civilized and modern city.

In the period of 2021-2025, the province will strive to increase its GRDP by 8.5% - 8.7%/year. By 2025, the local economic structure will be developed with industry - service - agriculture - product taxes less subsidies on production at 62.3% - 28% - 2.5% - 7.2%, respectively. The province’s index of industrial production will rise by over 8.7%/year. The province’s GRDP per capita will be VND 210 - 215 million/year. The province’s State budget revenue will grow by 8%/year. The province’s total social investment will account for 33%-34% of GRDP. The province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services will reach 14% - 15%/year. The province’s export turnover will increase by 9%- 10%/year while import turnover will surge 9%- 10%/year. The province’s FDI attraction will obtain over US$ 9 billion…

To achieve the set targets on socio-economic development, the province will focus on a number of key contents, including further promoting rapid and sustainable growth on the basis of maintaining macroeconomic stability and curbing inflation; accelerating economic restructuring in association with renovating growth models, improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness; improving the business climate, promoting innovative startup, effectively participating in the regional and global value chains; building synchronous infrastructure and promoting urban development; mobilizing and effectively using investment resources of the economy; strengthening innovation, application and strongly developing science and technology; implementing social progress and justice, improving people's lives, and ensuring a harmonious connection between economic development and society.

In order to well perform the "dual tasks" of both preventing Covid-19 pandemic and ensuring socio-economic development goals, provincial People's Committee has required departments, agencies, the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to focus on directing the implementation of  key tasks. They need to improve leadership and management methods, select urgent and practical issues that have great impacts on the local development for priority in implementation. In the process of implementation, all-level authorities and sectors must adhere to the local viewpoints, goals and development orientations to build and concretize into programs and projects for realization; opportunely remove difficulties, focus on solving problems arising in the process of socio-economic development, strive to fulfill the set goals, attach special importance to social welfare, well ensuring the material and spiritual lives of people…
