For many years, the “Tet for the poor” program has become one of important activities of provincial Red Cross Society and its branches. Being approved by provincial People’s Committee, the “Tet for the poor” program 2018 will continue being implemented. Nguyen Thanh Truc, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society said that the society has planned to realize the program and called for organizations, enterprises, individuals to join hands to support it.

Acting as a bridge between donors and the poor, provincial Red Cross Society annually organizes the program, aiming to mobilize all social resources to take care of the poor on Tet. It not only expresses the State and Party’s care for the poor, but also encourages them to surmount difficulties to rise up in life…

One of the major contents of the “Tet for the poor” program 2018 is to organize delegations to visit and present Tet gifts to people with extremely difficult circumstances. They include poor and policy beneficiary families, Agent Orange/dioxin victims, handicapped children and blind people in the province.

Under this year’s plan, these delegations will visit and donate 2,000 gifts worth VND800,000 each to the above targeted people. The “Tet for the poor” program 2018 will be organized at provincial Exhibition-Convention Center and be broadcast live on BTV  on January 17 ahead. It is organized in association with two other programs, including the “Pink festival” program-honoring outstanding blood donors and the one presenting gifts to outstanding collectives, individuals in the “Each organization, individual should stick to a humanitarian address” campaign. It is expected that there will be additional 1,000 people with extremely difficult circumstances given gifts from the organizers.

Mrs.Truc added that as of now, provincial Red Cross Society has received around VND1.8billion from organizations and individuals to support the “Tet for the poor” program 2018. The society also continues mobilizing organizations and individuals to donate money and gifts to the program. With the efforts by the whole society, it is hoped that this year, the local needy people will get more gifts to enjoy a warm and happy Tet with their families.

It is known that provincial Red Cross Society and its branches successfully held the “Tet for the poor” program 2017. Through the program, they offered 57,833 gifts to the province with a total value of more than VND25.44million.
