Provincial “Spring volunteer” campaign launched

Provincial Students Association Secretariat has just launched the “Spring volunteer “campaign 2019, contributing to taking care of teenagers and children in and out of the province with difficult circumstances.

Provincial Students Association now has a total of 21,145 members. In the 2017-2018 academic year, the association and its branches actively implemented the “Winter volunteer” campaign 2017 and the “Spring volunteer” campaign 2018 with significant activities from October, 2017 to February, 2018. Along with further raising clothes, learning tools and food for people in mountainous areas, the association organized a lot of activities welcoming Tet for disadvantaged children, lonely elderly people, policy beneficiary families, soldiers in border areas and on offshore islands…

The “Winter volunteer” campaign 2017 and the “Spring volunteer” campaign 2018 was organized with new features such as carrying out volunteer activities towards soldiers who are on duty at border posts. Noticeably, Thu Dau Mot University’s Students Association organized 10 squads with 488 soldiers to realize the “Spring volunteer” campaign. Provincial Students Association also implemented 26 volunteer activities, absorbing the participation of nearly 2,000 students with approximately VND200million mobilized.

Tran Thi Diem Trinh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union cum Chairwoman of provincial Students Association said that upholding achievements done over the past years, this year’s “Spring volunteer” campaign will be organized volunteer activities in all provincial and school routes. Accordingly, the local students will get involved in such significant activities as cleaning up schools, mobilizing organizations and individuals to award gifts, scholarships to needy pupils, students; organize a “Tet meal” program, activities making “banh chung” (square glutinous rice cakes), “banh tet” (cylindric glutinous rice cakes), various Tet jams for alien students and households with difficult circumstances; hold art performances for children in poor localities, at lodging facilities crowded with workers…

In addition, activities of the “Spring volunteer” campaign activities will be held in association with strengthening dissemination and organization of celebrations of the 89^th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930-February 3, 2019), the 88^th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931-March 26, 2016)…Accordingly, provincial Students Association and its branches will mobilize resources to organize social welfare activities, take care of heroic Vietnamese mothers, policy beneficiaries in order to boost “paying debt of gratitude”, “When drinking water, remember its source” movements; accelerate activities taking care of teenagers and children with difficult circumstances…They will visit, present Tet gifts to needy families at hospitals, health centers on December 29 and 30 of lunar calendar, bringing them a warm Tet atmosphere.

“Through activities of the “Spring volunteer” campaign, the local students not only have a chance to experience Tet atmosphere, but also make pervasion on their volunteer spirit, contributing to creating a colorful picture on tasks of Youth Union and associations in spring”, Mrs.Trinh said.
