“Return-to-the-root” journey with warm sentiment of people and army

To celebrate the 70^th anniversary of traditional day of the Regiment 271, the Party Committee, Military Command of the Infantry 271 under the Military Zone 7’s Division 5 stationed in Phu Giao district has just organized a “return-to-the-root” trip to Duc Hoa district in the central province of Long An where was inherent in battles and feats of arm of the Regiment 271’s soldiers in the last period of the resistance war against the U.S imperialism.

During the trip, the delegation organized many significant activities, including cleaning up and offering incense to heroic martyrs at Duc Hoa district’s Martyrs’ Cemetery, monuments to the Regiment 271’s soldiers in An Ninh Tay and An Ninh Dong communes.

The delegation also offered 20 gifts, comprising of 25kg of rice and VND500,000 each, together with 20 bicycles worth VND3million each to poor-but-excellent pupils in An Ninh Tay and An Ninh Dong communes.

On this occasion, the delegation also coordinated with Thu Duc district’s hospital in HCM city to provide free medical check-ups and medicine for policy beneficiary families and people who rendered great services to the nation.

Lieutenant colonel Pham Dac Cong, political commissar of the Regiment 271 said that over the past time, officials and soldiers of the regiment actively responded to the movement of “paying debt of gratitude” by practical activities. The regiment organized a lot of programs and movements paying tribute to policy beneficiary families. These activities also aimed to educate and build up revolutionary ideals among the regiment’s soldiers.

Although being small, the above gifts partially shared difficulties with needy families in An Ninh Tay and An Ninh Dong communes. Especially, the Regiment 271 worked with Duc Hoa district to organize an art performance and an exchange with former soldiers under the theme of “Trung doan 271-Mot thoi hoa lua tren que huong Duc Hoa, Long an” (The Infantry Regiment 271-a fire flower time on Long An’s Duc Hoa homeland). The “return-to-the-root” journey not only aimed to educate and build up revolutionary ideals among young soldiers, but also marked the 70^th anniversary of traditional day of the Regiment 271. This was also a very practical activity in education, helping young generations in general and officials, soldiers of the unit today in particular to respect the great devotion of older generations, making their contributions to the cause of national construction and defence, Mr.Cong added.
