Rural youth start from models to increase production

Depending on characteristics and natural conditions of each locality, many young people have chosen and built up suitable models. With the will to better their lives, young people in rural areas have not only built efficient production models but also actively supported local youth movements.

With about 1 ha of his garden, Bui Van Phi in Phu Chanh ward (Tan Uyen town) switched perennial plants to producing vegetables to start his business. His vegetable garden is covered with net and a vigorous green color spreads over the ground. Mr. Phi planted many kinds of vegetable. In the last 4 years, his garden has year-round crops and helped Phi improve his family living standard. Phi’s model of vegetable garden was selected by local Youth Union for young persons to follow, visit to grow clean vegetables for developing family business or growing at home for daily meals. Mr. Phi shared: “Growing clean vegetables for family meals is not difficult, with a small area we can grow vegetables. It is simple, easy to grow, clean vegetables also ensure safety to people health".

Le Minh Tu (Ba Phai hamlet, Long Nguyen commune, Bau Bang district) took advanatage of available ponds at his house to develop a catfish farm. Mr. Tu said, this type of fish is omnivorous, so raising and intensive farming is easy to bring high productivity. In addition, he took advantage of by-products of slaughterhouses to process fish feed, helping to reduce feed costs. Using this feed, fishes grew fast and loss rate was low, so fishes reached a weight of 0.5-1kg or more after only 5-6 months and could be harvested.

With this model, in one year, Mr. Tu has 2 harvest periods for an average income of VND 200 million / year after deducting expenses. His model also creates jobs for 5 young people in and outside the commune. With a stable income, as a secretary of the hamlet Youth Union branch, Mr. Tu also contributed to local Youth Union by providing financial support for youth activities of the hamlet and commune...

With the help of local unions, Le Thanh Dong (Tan Hoi ward, Tan Hiep ward, Tan Uyen town) visited and learn experiences from good models, then set up a model of mushroom cultivation on home garden with an area of ​​750m2. He boldly made investment, applied new technologies to mushroom cultivation, and the preservation and processing of clean products, has gained monthly income of VND 16 million. Besides, Mr. Dong also raises 2 beeves, 2 cows for an additional income of VND 100 million / year. According to Mr. Dong, the application of new technologies in mushroom cultivation and automatic irrigation system reduce costs, ensure quality, and gain high economic efficiency. Mr. Dong regularly encouraged people to carry out production models associated with preserving, processing and consuming agricultural products, producing clean food in association with rural environmental protection; enthusiastically participate in emulation movements launched by Youth Union and local authorities.

Also in Tan Hung commune (Bau Bang district), Club of dairy cow raising, Nguyen Hoang Trung as the chief, is also an efficient model. This model currently has 20 cows, with an initial investment of VND 500 million, gives an average income of VND 20 million / month. The club also creates regular jobs for 2 to 3 local laborers. As the leader of the club, Mr. Trung always tries to study and draw experience to gain more practical knowledge for farming. Furthermore, Mr. Trung is also an active young Party member in local voluntary activities.
