STEM/STEAM educational workshop: From practical experience to creative thinking

On May 22, at Provincial Convention and Exhibition Center, Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with Department of Education and Training hosted STEM/STEAM educational workshop - From practical experience to creative thinking. The workshop aimed at introducing STEM/STEAM education model to teachers of junior high schools, high schools, junior colleges, colleges, and universities in the province.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, University of Missouri (USA), explains issues related to the implementation of STEM/STEAM education model.

STEM education model (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) was initiated in the United States. This model is the integration and connection between science - technology - technique - mathematics, thereby helping students practice more and experience more. STEAM is an extension of STEM with the addition of artistic elements, thereby creating a motivation for creative thinking.

At the workshop, speakers from University of Missouri (USA), Teach for VietNam Organization, Saigon Scientific Research Organization, Microsoft Vietnam, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center under National University of Ho Chi Minh City shared experiences in the implementation of STEM/STEAM in schools, the effectiveness of the implemented models, the start-up associated with STEM/STEAM in Industry 4.0...
