Strengthening Covid-19 prevention and control at medical establishments

Update: 17-06-2021 | 11:58:49

Binh Duong province, on June 13, recorded one new Covid-19 case at Chau Thanh General Clinic in Thu Dau Mot city. On the basis of the directions of the Ministry of Health and provincial People's Committee on strengthening Covid-19 prevention and control at medical establishments, provincial Department of Health has issued many documents directing and establishing inspection delegations, requesting units to further strengthen measures against the pandemic in order to have no pandemic at public and private medical establishments in the province.

Raising high responsibility of heads of medical establishments

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and especially during this 4th wave of the pandemic, provincial Department of Health has issued many documents requesting public and private medical establishments to further strengthen anti-Covid-19 measures. Specifically, they must strictly comply with criteria on safety for COVID-19 prevention and control. They must regularly make self-assessment on safe hospitals and clinics for Covid-19 prevention and control in accordance with a set of criteria issued by the Ministry of Health such as the  Decision No. 3088/QD-BYT, the Decision No. 4999/QD- BYT...

Patients get screening tests before entering Thuan An city’s Health Center

Medical establishments in the province must set up their separate medical examination areas, organize screening tests for people who come for medical examination... Provincial Department of Health especially noted that the source of Covid-19 infection may already be in the community at present. People infected with Covid-19 will come to medical facilities for examination. Therefore, medical establishments need to set up their separate medical examination areas for people who have suspected Covid-19 symptoms or those with voluntary medical examination, due to contact with cases of F1, F2.

Province-based medical establishments need to strictly organize screening tests, isolation of patients right from the time when they arrive at the reception gate under the guidance at the Official Letter 1385/CV-BCDQG of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control; strictly implement measures against the pandemic in accordance with to the guidance at the Decision No. 5188/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health. Provincial Department of Health has also required medical establishments to strictly comply with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control, ensuring safety for medical staff, patients and the community. Heads of the medical establishments in the province must take full responsibility if the pandemic occurs in their units.

People need to honestly make medical declaration

Having a disease must see a doctor, it is a common mentality of each person. But in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic entering the community and the early detection of Covid-19 cases right from the time when the patient comes to the hospital for medical examination become an important responsibility of medical facilities. However, at some meetings between the Ministry of Health and localities, many opinions from health experts said that when there are signs of Covid-19 infection, people should refrain from going out, coming to hospitals, but should call for help from medical staff. This helps to handle the situation of the pandemic in the first place, avoiding the spread of the virus and reducing pressure on hospitals.

In the previous waves of the pandemic, the Ministry of Health recommended that when going outside, people should strictly follow the "5K" message. They need to contact the hotline of the Ministry of Health (1900 9095/1900 3228) for necessary advice when experiencing symptoms related to Covid-19 such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, headache, sore throat, etc. In the current context, the health sector is overloaded. With limited resources, the sector cannot meet people’s demand for calling to declare for support at home. The best solution now is that people need to go to the nearest medical facilities for medical declaration and screening tests.

Dr. Nguyen Hong Chuong, Director of provincial Department of Health said that when coming to medical facilities, patients need to declare honestly. This will help medical facilities more convenient. On the basis of the patient’s declaration, medical facilities only need to follow screening procedures to be able to promptly determine whether this case is an infection, thereby taking isolation solutions and informing functional agencies of this case.
