Tan Uyen Town to create favorable conditions for business growth

In the coming time, the town will continue to implement directives of the Central and the province on supporting and developing enterprises; building and promoting the role of business community in the new era... That was affirmed by Doan Hong Tuoi, Chairman of Tan Uyen Town People’s Committee, at the meeting with business community in the town on occasion of Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day (13 Oct).

 Efforts of enterprises

At the meeting, many business representatives informed about the current labor shortage. According to Duong Tu Trinh, Director of Thuong Nguyen Processing Machine Company (Thai Hoa ward), preliminary statistics show that about 50% of enterprises in the town are facing labor shortage in production. Unless the authorities and business community timely take measures, this shortage will be worse.

In addition, productivity of Vietnamese labor is currently rated as the lowest in ASEAN region. This affects production plan as well as efficiency of businesses, reducing the competitiveness of orders. Currently, labor costs tend to increase, pushing up labor prices by 10-20%, but businesses still face difficulties in recruitment, especially technical and managerial candidates with professional qualifications...

In order to solve the labor shortage, in recent years, companies in the town and in the whole province have made great efforts to retain workers. Phan Thuy Linh, representative of Earth Corporation Vietnam Company (Soth Tan Uyen Industrial Park), said that employees were not assets but shareholders, members of the big family. Therefore, they need to be guaranteed a good income, good spiritual life and study.

Trade Union of the company is an important element and represents the voice of workers. Executive Committee of the company’s Trade Union was established in 2012 and works very effectively. Due to activities of the Trade Union, company leaders understand aspirations of their employees and also received many initiatives to solve difficulties in production.

In addition, occupational safety and health is considered an important goal of the company. Therefore, the company cooperates with Trade Union to set up an occupational safety and hygiene committee. In addition to training activities, periodic training, occupational safety and health issues are notified daily by Trade Union Executive Committee through books, newspapers, instruction boards ... Besides, the company regularly organizes emulation movements related to occupational safety and hygiene to raise awareness and form habits for workers. The company also maintains workers’ kitchen, meals for employees working overtime to recover; implements 24/24 insurance; invites doctors to give health advice, periodic health examinations for workers ...

Mai Van Can, representative of Rochdale Spears Company (Thanh Phuoc ward), said that besides caring for workers’ health and welfare, Directors Board of the company paid special attention to labor safety issues. Accordingly, the work to guarantee occupational safety and fire safety is well organized by the company to ensure a safe working environment for workers. Through these activities, the company creates a connection among workers so that they would stick together no matter what job position.

To promptly solve difficulties

To solve problems for workers, Ms. Trinh said, her company needed the government’s assistance. “We hope that local authorities would establish relationships between businesses and professional training institutions for skilled and responsible human resources. Trade Unions need to regularly organize programs and trainings to raise workers’ sense of responsibility for work and teamwork”, said Ms. Trinh.

Other business managers also suggested that the town builds many social housing, schools, hospitals, and recreational areas for workers to work safely and live happily in the area. That would create a long-term attachment of workers to the town and businesses. Business managers said that efforts of the business community, along with the support of local government, would help strengthen employee’s commitment to their company in Tan Uyen Town in particular and Binh Duong in general.

Doan Hong Tuoi, Chairman of Tan Uyen Town People's Committee, said that road system in the area had been invested strongly, in particular, many external roads of the town had been built and connected with provincial transport systems such as DT746, DT746B, DT747B... Urban roads were also upgraded, such as DH409, DH423, DH425 roads... Meanwhile, infrastructures of electricity and water supply were improved regularly; new residential areas have been put into use to serve the people, facilitating local socio-economic development.

However, according to Mr. Tuoi, the development of the town also comes with challenges. For instance, the increase in mechanical population has created pressure on schools, healthcare system, and social issues in the area. He urged that in the coming time, departments, committees, communes, and wards should continue to create favorable conditions, promptly learn about and solve enterprise’s difficulties in production and business of.

Governmental bodies need to implement well OSS mechanism to shorten solving time for administrative procedures of organizations, citizens, and enterprises; reorganize the inspection and examination of enterprises to reduce overlaps, troubles for enterprises. Besides, industries and localities need to create the most favorable conditions in terms of infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, land and ground, social order security, and asset safety for businesses to sustainably grow and achieve high efficiency in production and business activities.
