TDM city has obtained a variety of considerable advances. The city’s 10 year-implementation of a strategy on developing Vietnamese culture to 2020 has also made great contributions to the result.

Focusing on cultural development strategy

Tran My Le, Deputy Head of TDM city’s Division of Culture and Information said that leaders of the city has always advocated the local cultural sector to step by step build up culture and human beings with comprehensive development. Culture is always the firm spiritual backdrop of the society, the important endogenous strength to ensure development for the goal of a prosperous people and a strong, democratic, equitable, and civilized country…

Outstanding individuals, collectives in realizing the campaign of building up civilized-cultural quarters and decorating streets in 2019 honored

Over the past years, along with economic development, the city’s socio-cultural field unceasingly grew up. The city’s cultural activities continued being maintained, contributing to improving the spiritual life of people. After 10 years of implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No.23, the city raised authorities at all levels, officials, Party members and people’s awareness of the role and importance of literature and art. The city also paid more attention to activities in literature and art with deep and wide development, contributing to orienting people’s ideology and aesthetics.

2017 was seen as the noticeable year of the past 10 years. In 2017, the city bent on the “Building up civilized urban and cultural lifestyle” campaign in association with programs, projects and plans to realize the Resolution of the city’s Party congress and the Resolution No.17 of provincial Party Committee on “Further building and developing TDM city in the period of 2016-2020 and in the next years”. Cultural activities since 2017 have aimed to build up a civilized, prosperous and modern city. In 2017 alone, the whole city mobilized capital from enterprises and State budget to construct 22 parks. And 2018 was the year with hallmark in socialization for decorating streets to welcome the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2018. Particularly, the city spent more than VND14billion on the work, VND10billion of which came from socialization.

Great achievements

Leaders of the city have also paid attention to carrying out provincial Project on “Preserving and upholding the values of “Don ca tai tu” (southern folk music) for the period of 2018-2020”; set up preferential policies for artisans…In the 2016-2017 period, the city organized a competition on composing songs under the theme of “Thu Dau Mot-My beloved city” with 11 outstanding works awarded prizes. They also had a public performance, which was a form effectively popularizing the image of a flexible and creative city.

In addition, the city’s cultural sector held numerous exhibitions, art performances…, opportunely serving people’s demand for enjoying spiritual culture.

Possibly speaking, ideology, morality, lifestyle and cultural life are main fields, thereby creating important changes in awareness of people from all strata. Together with implementing the campaign of “Building up cultural, civilized urban lifestyle”, the local people are more aware in building up a civilized, clean and nice living environment. Their active participation in cultural activities has also contributed to making a positive change in building up a park city, step by step enhancing the quality of people’s life…

The city is now home to more than 90 art troupes with more than 5,300 members. Among them, there are 12 “Don ca tai tu” clubs with 161 members. As of now, the city has had a total of 11 national and provincial relics, namely Phu Loi Prison, Hoi Khanh pagoda, Ba Lua communal house…
