Provincial People’s Committee has just issued a document on tightening control over slaughtering and food safety. Accordingly, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been ordered to coordinate with the People’s Committees of districts, towns and TDM city to make dissemination of information about the harmful effects of injecting sedatives into pigs shortly before being slaughtered and sanctions for the above action; set up a hot line to receive information on wrong cases; organize a program pledging not to inject sedatives into pigs shortly before being slaughtered among slaughter houses.

Besides, relevant units will tighten control over the activities of slaughter houses and the trade of sedatives in the veterinary sector; make inspection tours in order to opportunely discover and seriously handle slaughter houses that get involved in injecting sedatives into pigs shortly before being slaughtered.
