 Communication campaigns to be organized

According to provincial Food Safety Steering Committee, in order to implement effectively this year's food safety assurance plan, the calling for participation of all people, all levels of government, management agencies, political and social organizations in communication of legal provisions, food safety knowledge for food producers, processors, traders and consumers is very important. Thereby, it will contribute to raising consumers' awareness, boycott and resolute handling of unsanitary food facilities and unsafe food products; contribute to minimizing food poisoning cases during Lunar New Year.

Therefore, the implementation of communication campaigns on food safety before, during, after Lunar New Year and Spring Festival must receive special attention. Communication will focus on 3 groups: Authorities at all levels and managers; food producers, processors, traders and consumers. For food producers, processors, and traders, some main contents are such as: regulations on sanitary conditions of facilities, equipment and tools in food production, processing and trading establishments; using only materials with clear origins, allowed food additives, processing aids, at the right doses and to the right subjects according to regulation on food production and processing; ensure conditions for preserving and trading sausages, spring rolls, rice cakes, cakes, jams, traditional foodstuffs to ensure food safety; related laws and regulations.

Under the direction of provincial Food Safety Steering Committee, the communication contents focus on guiding consumers how to prepare and preserve food safely, how to preserve sausages, spring rolls, bamboo shoots, and rice cakes in Tet holiday; Do not use food products of unknown origin, showing signs of rancidity, mold, and damage; Do not prepare too much food during Tet to avoid using products that are not fresh, malnourished, or moldy, damaged.

To enhance inspection and examination

Following the direction of the Central Steering Committee and Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, Provincial Food Safety Steering Committee set up a Food Safety Assurance plan before, during and after Lunar New Year 2020. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Đạt, Director of Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Office, said that the common goal set by provincial Food Safety Steering Committee in this year's plan was to ensure food safety in production, processing and trading, import and use of food; at the same time, strengthening control and handling the business of fake and poor quality food, preventing food poisoning during Lunar New Year 2020. Therefore, on this occasion, from provincial to communal level will establish inspection teams, specialized inspection, and inter-branch inspection to focus on product groups that consume much during Tet and with high risk factors, food processing villages.

At the provincial level, in addition to the inter-branch inspection team (including health sector, agriculture, industry and trade), on this occasion, functional departments also set up a specialized inspection team to carry out inspections by fields and sectors. Subjects of inspection and examination are establishments of food producing, processing, trading, importing , providing catering services, street food, focusing on production and business establishments of products that are used much during the Lunar New Year, such as meat products, beverages... Delegations at provincial level will focus on inspecting and examining production and business establishments, importing food as major wholesalers, markets, supermarkets and trade centers. For small and medium food establishments, catering business establishments shall mainly be inspected and supervised by district and commune levels according to decentralized management.

Doctor Nguyễn Văn Đạt, said this year the health sector paid attention to quality control. After food inspection and testing, violating production and business establishments will be strictly handled according to regulations. In addition, the violating facilities will be also published on mass media to alert consumers, not to use low-quality products, fake goods ... to ensure consumer's health on Tet holiday.
