Early February 23, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with provincial People’s Committee and South African Embassy in Vietnam organized a Vietnam-South Africa trade, investment and tourism promotion seminar. Attending the event were Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Doan Duy Khuong, Vice-Chairman of the VCCI; Kgomotso Ruth Magau, South African Ambassador to Vietnam; representatives of sectors, departments, enterprises and associations in the province.

The seminar aimed to introduce South Africa’s economy, trade, investment and tourism; provide cooperation opportunities in trade and investment with South Africa in particular and African, Middle East countries in general for localities, associations and enterprises in the whole country while exchanging solutions on boosting international cooperation with African and Middle East countries. Binh Duong’s economy, investment projects and policies on investment attraction were also introduced at the seminar.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr.Liem expressed his honor when cooperating with South African Embassy in Vietnam and the VCCI to organize the seminar. He emphasized that this was a good chance for businesses from the two countries to cooperate to exploit potential and strength for mutual benefit.

The seminar also contributed to broadening cooperation between the two countries in trade, tourism, education and culture; especially helped Binh Duong strengthen trade exchange for the local strong products like wood products, handicrafts, garment, footwear…and attached special importance to tapping South Africa’s potential for material resources like furniture, fibre, steel…at province-based enterprises’ demand for production.
