Vietnamese cuisine to fly high through “Chiec Thia Vang” Competition

"Chiec Thi Vang" (the golden spoon) is a competition for restaurant chef throughout Vietnam to discover and praise the best chefs and dishes.The competition was coordinated by Minh Long I Co., Ltd. and Business Support Administration (BSA) under the direction and auspices of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Talented chefs gather

The contest was first launched in 2013 and has received much attention and support from the public and the media by professional, attractive and amazing creativity of the participating chefs from throughout the nation.The competition took place in the region gathered more than 140 large and small restaurants of 39 provinces competing for the awards valued up to VND 3 billion, of which the first award would be VND 1 billion.In addition, the organizers would also award many prizes in cash and gifts to the participating teams.

Continuing the success, the competition was officially initiated in May 2014 under theme of setting Vietnamese food map, drawing participation of 140 teams of which 43 were 4 to 5 star restaurants and hotels nation wide divided into 10 competition zones.Not only was the number of participation higher but the quality of the participating teams has also been greatly enhanced; especially, the thorough preparation of dressing and professional introduction of Vietnamese dishes under strict criteria for "delicious and healthy" ...

Qualifying competition of "Chiec Thia Vang" 2014 took place in 11 provinces and cities, representing each region such as Kien Giang, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Da Lat, Buon Ma Thuot, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, Hanoi and Lao Cai.After the semi-finals in the North and the South (in 2 days of November 5 and 19, 2014) was the final competition for ranking which took place at Minh Sang Plaza (at Hung Dinh Ward in Thuan An Town) on December 10.The total award value of the competition is more than VND 3 billion, including the VND 1 billion championship trophy and Chef Cup among individual prizes for each round and each region.Ly's Horeca brandname kept on as the only sponsor of the competition.

Promoting Vietnamese cuisine

15 teams entered the final competition round for ranking of "Chiec Thia Vang" in 2014 are famous restaurants and hotels in both the North and South of Vietnam including the Caravelle Hotel, Hoa Mua Restaurant of Binh Quoi Village 1, De Nhat Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Golden Lotus Conference and Wedding Center in Dong Nai, An Hoa Restaurant in Ben Tre, Ana Mandara Villas Dalat in Lam Dong, The Grand Ho Tram Strip in Vung Tau, Nam Nho Restaurant in Kien Giang, Saigon Halong Hotel in Quang Ninh, Hanoi Hilton Opera Hotel, Sun Way Hotel in Ha Noi), Hyatt Regency Danang in Da Nang, etc.

After a day of vigorous competition and no less strained, the jury chose the winner of the "Chiec Thia Vang" 2014 as Caravelle Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City for the prize of VND 1 billion and the Chef special trophy honoring champions.In addition to the first prize, the organizers have awarded 4 runners-up prizes secondly to De Nhat Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, The Grand Ho Tram Strip in Vung Tau, the Sun Way Hotel in Ha No), and Hyatt Regency Danang in Da Nang of VND 100 million each, including VND 50 million in cash and VND 50 million products of Ly's Horeca brandname.Besides, Thanh Nien Newspaper has also awarded the "Young Chef of passion" Nguyen Tuyen Huynh Dang of An Hoa Restaurant team in Ben Tre; and the organizers awarded the "Best Diet" title to Bao Chau Boutique Sapa in Sapa City of Lao Cai).

Commenting on the competition, Mr. Ly Ngoc Minh, General Director of the Minh Long I Company Limited, the founder of the "Chiec Thia Vang" competition, said the professional quality of the competition has been improved through years. Compared with the first competition, this year the competition eyed higher quality of preparation, chefs' skill, and foods under "delicious and healthy" requirements...

Speaking at the awarding ceremony of "Chiec Thia Vang" 2014, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, praised up and highly appreciated the "Chiec Thia Vang" organizers in the past two seasons.The competition has helped to elevate the dining culture of Vietnam to new height. In the future, the administration would continue to support the competition in order to promote Vietnamese cuisine of "delicacy and health" out-reaching in and outside of the nation...
