Mid-autumn festival comes to poor children

The local authorities at all levels, sectors and social charity organizations have jointly offered gifts to disadvantaged children, bringing them a warm mid-autumn season.

“Warm” full-moon festival

Despite bad weather, nearly 2,000 children in Di An town gathered at Di An primary school to take part in the full-moon festival 2018 on the evening of September 22 (August 13 of lunar calendar), with many significant activities.

Along with gifts for participants, the organizers presented special gifts worth VND300,000 each, including moon-cakes and lanterns, to 37 children with difficult circumstances. Nguyen Thi Kim Nhung, a poor child residing in Tan Dong Hiep ward said that she felt very happy when getting attention from leaders of the local administration and pledged to try harder in study…

It is known that on the occasion of the mid-autumn festival 2018, the province has offered 1,200 gifts to children of 40 clubs “children with HIV/AIDS prevention” across the province with a total expense of VND200million together with 1,065 gifts worth VND252million to children at social charity centers.

Thousands of mid-autumn gifts for children

Along with gifts from the province, districts, towns and TCM city have also extracted the local State budget to give more than 47,000 gifts worth nearly VND3.1billion on the occasion of the mid-autumn festival 2018. Particularly, Dau Tieng district donated 360 gifts worth VND300,000 each to children with difficult circumstances. Di An town also offered 1,200 gifts worth VND364million to the local children. Pham Van Bay, Vice-Chairman of the town’s People’s Committee said that leaders of the town have paid special attention to taking care of children. Hence, the town has organized numerous activities for children. On the evening of August 22 of lunar calendar, all wards of the town held full-moon festivals for children.

On this occasion, many units and organizations also held delegations to visit and present gifts for children at social support centers in the province, bringing them a warm mid-autumn festival. Le Thi Phuc, a staff of Ben San lepers’ hospital said that the hospital is now home to 112 descendants of lepers. On the occasion of the mid-autumn festival 2018, children herein received gifts from donors, had a chance to take part in art performance items and games. Around 60 children under 12 at Tu Tam Nhan Ai social support center were also given mid-autumn gifts from charity groups…

Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Vice-Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Martyrs said that leaders of the local authorities at all levels and parents have organized many activities taking care of children, especially those with difficult circumstances, aiming to bring them the happiness and joy on the occasion of the mid-autumn festival 2018. She also acknowledged contributions by donors in taking care of children on this occasion while wanting that they will further pay attention to give better care for them…
