Tet get-together for Vietnamese expatriates

On the evening of January 23, provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee organized a get-together for Vietnamese expatriates returning home for the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2017 at Lucky Square Conference - Event Center.

Attending the get-together were Nguyen Thanh Liem, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Public Relations, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial People’s Council; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; leaders of sectors, department and mass organizations together with nearly 200 Vietnamese expatriates.

Binh Duong now has a total of more than 10,000 Vietnamese expatriates in many countries and territories around the world. The province is home to around 119 projects invested by Vietnamese expatriates with total capital of more than VND4trillion. Most projects focus on transport, food processing, mechanism, woodwork processing, real estate trading…Every year, the province welcomes more than 5,000 Vietnamese expatriates. The amount of remittance sent home by them in 2016 was estimated at VND2.75trillion, up 8% compared to 2015. 

At the get-together, Mr.Liem expressed his delight at achievements done by Vietnamese expatriates, acknowledged and spoke highly of their patriotism and contributions to Binh Duong homeland during the past 20 years. He also wanted that they will continue making solidarity and reaching more successes; always look towards homeland, be a bridge to boost cooperation, contributing to popularize the images of Binh Duong in particular and Vietnam in general to international friends.

Mr.Hung briefly informed participants of the local socio-economic performance in 2016. He added that the local achievements last year were also contributed by Vietnamese expatriates.

At the get-together, Vietnamese expatriates also expressed their delight at the local development and pledged to further make solidarity and look towards homeland by useful activities.
