The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting announced September 12 typhoon Talim has formed in the East Sea and is now a tropical low-pressure near the eastern coast of the Philippines.

The Centre forecasts that Talim will continue to gain strength over the next two to three days and head in a north-easterly direction, close to China.

The tropical low pressure will then move cross the central region of the Philippines and enter the East Sea where it is expected to strengthen into a typhoon, the 10th such storm this year.

The Centre forecasts intense winds and rough sea will occur in the East Sea as of 12:01am September 13. Boats and vessels are advised to avoid the dangerous waters over the next 24 hours.

Weather forecasters said some 13-15 typhoons and tropical low-pressures will occur in the East Sea this year with three to four making landfall on the mainland of Vietnam, primarily striking the central region.
