To minimize serious occupational accidents

Although the province has made great efforts to propagate and promote inspection and inspection of occupational safety and hygiene, and fire and explosion prevention in enterprises, production and business establishments, on average, every year in the province, there are still dozens of serious occupational accidents leading to death and injuries. In addition, many people have accidents resulting in loss of work capacity, difficulty in walking, and burdens on families and society.

In the month of actions on occupational safety and health in 2021, the provincial Steering Committee organized 2 delegations to visit, give gifts and encourage 30 cases of relatives of people who died due to occupational accidents and victims of occupational accidents. Each gift was worth from VND 2 to 4 million, making up the total value of VND 106 million. The provincial Trade Union visited and presented 44 gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances suffering from occupational accidents and diseases. The grassroots trade union offers 666 gifts with the amount of VND 333 million to employees suffering from occupational accidents and diseases. The Fund to support workers with extremely difficult circumstances of the provincial Trade Union has also promptly cared for, supported and shared difficulties of 54 trade union members suffering from serious and occupational diseases and accidents with the amount of VND 508 million.

Mr. Pham Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Month of Action for Occupational Safety and Health in the province, said that despite the timely care, support and visits, workers suffering from occupational accidents and diseases are always concerned by all levels and sectors in the province, but when workers have occupational accidents that lead to serious injuries or loss of work capacity, the burden is still on the shoulders of their families and loved ones. Therefore, every year, the provincial Steering Committee always evaluates and draws experiences to make the propaganda on occupational safety and health more effective for businesses as well as employees; thereby, minimizing the risks of occupational accidents. In particular, the inspection and examination of occupational safety and health, and fire and explosion prevention at enterprises must be strictly implemented and handled according to regulations. Enterprises and production facilities that do this well must be recognized and rewarded in a timely manner to encourage and motivate. This is being done well by the provincial Steering Committee year on year.

To raise awareness of employees and employers

According to the provincial Steering Committee for Occupational Safety and Health Month, the month of occupational safety and health aims to promote programs and activities to prevent occupational accidents and diseases, and to improve working conditions in establishments and enterprises; to raise awareness of employers and employees in the implementation of occupational safety and health.

In the process of participating in work, a potential risk of accidents for employees is always there. There are many causes of occupational insecurity such as equipment and machinery malfunction, subjective and lack of awareness while working, and lack of concern of business owners. Employers do not develop procedures to ensure occupational safety, do not equip or inadequately equip employees with personal protection measures. The supervision and inspection of occupational safety and health at enterprises and production facilities are not regular, etc. Besides, employees do not implement or fully comply with the safety procedures for occupational safety and hygiene, fire prevention and fighting; they do not use personal protective equipment, and the awareness of occupational safety and hygiene is not high .

In order to limit the occurrence of occupational accidents, fires, and occupational diseases in the coming time, Mr. Pham Van Tuyen said that the provincial Steering Committee has accelerated the implementation of new documents, guidance for the implementation of the Law on Safety and Health. occupational safety and hygiene to each enterprise and employee to ensure occupational safety and hygiene; to ensure policies and allowances for people suffering from occupational accidents and diseases; to renew and diversify propaganda activities on assurance of occupational safety and hygiene and fire prevention and fighting. The Steering Committee will strengthen inspection, self-inspection and supervision of occupational safety and hygiene, fire prevention and fighting at enterprises; to pay attention to, consolidate and improve the operational efficiency of grassroots fire prevention and fighting forces; to focus on practicing the grassroots fire fighting plan and guide the establishment to organize the practice of fire prevention and fighting according to regulations.
