Binh Duong overcomes difficulties, rises to the top of the country in high school graduation exam 2021

The news about Binh Duong province leads the country in results of the high school graduation exam in 2021 (1st time) has eased the Covid-19 situation in the province. This is a pride to Binh Duong province in general, and also shows outstanding efforts of the entire education and training branch in a difficult school year.

Learning combined with disease prevention control

Based on the test score data of Ministry of Education and Training, the average score of Binh Duong 2021 high school graduation exam is 7,056. This is a very proud result, because in the 2020-2021 school year, teachers and students of provincial schools made great efforts to study and implement the Covid-19 prevention and control. During the school year, due to the impact of the epidemic, there were times when students had to temporarily stop going to school to assure disease prevention and control. In order not to let their learning be interrupted, provincial Department of Education and Training promptly directed schools to organize online teaching combined with face-to-face teaching. The Department of Education and Training regularly updated the disease progress to make appropriate decisions to organize teaching activities for students.

Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of provincial Department of Education and Training, said that the department asked principals of schools, depending on actual conditions, to actively adjust their teaching plan, but must ensure that teaching contents are fully completed and meet requirements of the program. Schools devised plans to be ready for online teaching and other appropriate forms depending on the situation and developments of the epidemic to ensure the successful completion of the 2020-2021 school year plan.

From these difficulties, the determination and efforts of the whole education training branch in improving the quality of the high school graduation exam have been proved. Teaching and learning amidst the Covid-19, schools maintained disease prevention and control measures. According to the direction, high schools increased propagation to raise awareness and responsibilities of administrators, staff, teachers, students and students' parents towards strict implementation of anti-epidemic, the message "5K" of Ministry of Health.

During the time students studying at school, schools focused on environmental sanitation around school campus, ensured adequate material facilities and medical equipment to serve the disease prevention control, such as: body temperature measurement tools, sanitizer, soap, hand basins; set up tables and chairs to keep the fixed distance and have plans to ensure the health safety of teachers and students according to the guidance of medical authority...

To carry out many solutions

To improve the quality of high school graduation exam, from beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, Department of Education and Training has implemented many effective measures. From time to time, Department of Education and Training directed high schools to implement many measures to improve quality, organize teaching and learning by face-to-face combined with online. Leaders of the department and professional teams also went to schools to check teaching activities, observed classes to promptly comment and correct teaching activities in accordance with conditions of each school.

In order to ensure the uniform quality of education among localities, professional teams of Department of Education and Training organized training sessions to improve the quality of exam subject teaching and learning. Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang said: “This work aims to enhance exchange of experience in teaching, review and assessment, helping teachers improve their professional qualifications, thereby helping students to effectively absorb lessons, be active and proactive in learning, and improve the high school exam score for students.

Class observations were carried out to learn from experience at schools; professional teams and teachers together exchanged and discuss contents, plans, documents, teaching and testing, assessment methods in order to promote the achieved results and adjust shortcomings and limitations of teachers and students in teaching and learning. From the training sessions, the professional teams also noted suggestions and recommendations of teachers and students in order to have timely solutions to maintain and improve the quality of high school graduation exam.

In addition to this form, every year Department of Education and Training also opens regular trainings for 100% of teachers in all subjects. In the regular training for 12th grade teachers in the 2020-2021 school year, there is always sessions to share teaching experience of how to help students do well in high school graduation exams.
